Not impressed.... The restaurant was virtually empty and had the charme of a college refectory. They sat us right next to the only other guests at the smallest table on the premises, which was a bad start. Then it took a good ten minutes for somebody to take our order, although we had put the menu down, which is the international signal for "ready to order". The food was a disappointment, the samosas and springrolls tasted liked frozen convenience food and the main course was just as bad - the meat was incredibly dry, the fruit was tinned fruit cocktail and the sauce was so basic that I could whip up something considerably better at home. Whilst we were eating, our waiter put up a poster in the window right next to us, the staff ran around the premises, doing all kinds of things and so noisily that it disturbed us considerably and to top it all the bulb right above our table went (I'm aware that's coincidence, but rather symbolic). Towards the morning I had a rather upset stomach and I had a mild, sweet curry, so it was certainly not the hot spicing. All in all it was such a massive disappointment, we will...
Read moreI've lived near Crich for 4 years and have only just got round to eating here. My brother and I arrived early and were worried we'd be the only ones eating there. How wrong we were! Within about half an hour, every table was taken. It's clearly a family business, and everyone at front of house is really lovely and friendly. The real winner here though, is the food. Presentation is absolutely top notch, the portions are generous (we brought some home in a doggy bag!) and the flavours are exquisite. I don't know who the chef is, but they clearly care about food and their art. We REALLY enjoyed our visit here, and will definitely be back. I feel quite lucky that such a great restaurant is located in this sleepy little village - and the rest of the locals clearly...
Read moreHad a takeaway whilst on holiday last week, and the wife and I both agreed it was the best Chicken Tilka Massala we'd ever had. This curry is not a spicy one, so i asked them to make mine hotter. This just made it so much better. It was a bit expensive. 2 curries, 1 coconut rice, 1 pashwari naan, 4 poppadoms (these went soft pretty quick) and 3 sauces (mint, mango, onion salad) for £37. Apparently we got lucky with our takeaway, according to a local, their takeaways are a bit hit and miss. Ours was definitely a hit. Like I say, THE best CTM...
