When I walked into Elaichi Indian Restaurant in Belper, I was immediately struck by the inviting ambiance. The soft lighting and warm decor, combined with the gentle hum of conversation, created a welcoming atmosphere that promised a delightful dining experience.
I began my culinary journey with a selection of appetizers. The onion bhajis were a particular standout—crispy on the outside, with a perfectly spiced interior. Each bite was a harmonious blend of texture and flavor. The samosas, too, were delightful, with a flaky pastry enveloping a savory filling that was both satisfying and comforting.
For the main course, I opted for one of the chefs specials "Azeeza Special". The chicken was tender and well-marinated, the prawns were soft not rubbery, while the sauce was rich and creamy, with just the right balance of spices and chilli. It was evident that the chef had taken great care in crafting this dish. Alongside, I sampled the lamb rogan josh, which was equally impressive. The lamb was succulent, and the sauce had a depth of flavor that spoke of hours of careful preparation.
The naan bread, fresh from the tandoor, was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Light and fluffy, with a slight char, it was ideal for soaking up the delicious sauces. I also appreciated the side of pineapple and chilli rice, where the ingredients melded together in a fragrant and flavorful combination.
Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu helped guide my choices. Their recommendations were spot on, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Read moreWhat a great Restaurant. It made for a very special night out On entering we received the warmest o welcomes, we hadn't booked ahead however they managed to accommodate us we had to wait a short while for our table but that wasn't a problem for us especially as the waiting area had comfy sofas and a bar. We were shown to our table which was on the first floor up some stairs which may be an obstacle to some guests. Our table looked fantastic with a clean tablecloth. Our waiter was friendly helpful and attentative. The restaurant was tastefully modern brightly lit and scrupulously clean in fact the staff were obviously proud of their place they were cleaning regularly throughout our visit. Good to see at an Indian restaurant was Beer on tap so many Indian Restaurants seem to be alcohol free these days. The menu was nicely presented and contained an interesting choice of meals not just the usual Indian restaurant fayre. Our starters were served on well garnished plates and were delicious. Our main course was divine. This is probably the best Indian Restaurant I have ever visited and would you believe it, it wasn't expensive either. If you are in the Belper area and are looking for an evening meal you must try The Elaichi for yourselves I know you won't be disappointed. Oh and they do...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic place to go, all the staff are super friendly, courteous and helpful especially Kam. Unfortunately I am disabled and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor, which I couldn't manage, Kam had no problems arranging for us to eat on the ground floor, organising a table and chairs to be brought down. The array of different dishes is excellent but do state if you don't want something too spicy. They offer vegetarian options too. We went for a special meal and were made to feel very comfortable and happy. Unfortunately I ordered a chicken dupiarza (not sure of spelling) which I love but ended up being a chicken tikka dupiarza which I found a bit too spicy for my taste, along with a peswari naan and pilau rice which were all excellent. My son ordered a lamb shank meal which came with 2, literally falling off the bone, vegetables, pilau rice and a basic naan. When you arrive you are offered drinks and not wanting to ruin our meal didn't want a starter got given poppadoms with various dips, which were very nice. The whole experience was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves. They offer top class, heartfelt follow through making sure you are enjoying your time and are happy, they also offer take away but I'm not sure about delivery, it's spotlessly clean, thank you and top...
