Chars Cafe — Restaurant in Arun

Came here after visiting their other destinations (when it was a van) and was always happy with what we received. Today we got sausage & egg baguette, sausage, egg & bacon baguette, cake and bacon cheeseburger. 1st baguette was fine apart from reheated sausages but this is the norm for a burger van. Next, my I ate my burger which was okay. Lastly, I went to eat my baguette (I asked for a broken egg in the roll) - to my horror eurgh. My 'egg' was no longer white anywhere it was fully brown and crispy. I did return this and ask for my money back - I asked the man who cooked this if he would eat it and his reply was 'Yes I would'. They straight away offered to remake this baguette and I declined as i don't fancy eating an item I've already complained about. I took my refund. Standing in the carpark waiting for my partner to finish her baguette and the lady that was serving opened the window to discuss the issue. She Informed me she actually asked for a overcooked egg instead of broken so was human error - this is fair enough as accidents do happen and she did keep saying she offered to recook it. I replied with that's fine I'll leave a review anyway. Her reply to this was: '1 bad review in a 1000 isn't going to be bad anyway', to which I replied that's the wrong attitude. This comment is the reason for the 1 star review. If you look at something and you wouldn't eat it, don't serve it. In my experience, this place isn't any better than others but it has a great social media backing. All the best to the guys in their ventures as we have followed them throughout the years, but unfortunately we won't be returning here. I believe this is a good honest review...

Popped in this morning to see everyone . Greeted by Debbie and James . So friendly and accommodating. My wife and I both had a bacon cheeseburger, which to be honest probably the best burger we both have ever had . Just unbelievably. Then had a chat with kelvin, explaining to him how inspirational they all were . All the staff at the kitchen and the bald family are 100% real down to earth people. People that get there heads down and graft , 7 days a week. Just great honest hard working people. Like I explained to kelvin they deserve all the luck in the world. So proud of the hole set up and the bald family. Work hard and you will be rewarded. My wife and I would like to wish you all all the best in all that you do in the future. All ready looking forward to coming down again from Buckinghamshire to see you again. Hopefully we can bump into Brad ,Rhi, Sam and Matt . Just keep doing what you do . We had a week away in selsey and I said to the family let's stop at the bald kitchen for lunch on the way home. All the family were up for it especially my eldest as he's seen some of Brad and sams video's. Anyways it was a friday lunchtime and quiet busy, I ordered chicken burger and the kids had the kids meal. We had the bald hot chocolate and brookie. Wow great food and best chicken burger I've ever had. You can deffo tell its butchers meat. The Mrs loved her food and the brookie was to die for she said. Kids burger meals (wow massive). I've also been reading your comic books to them every night.The staff were great and then the 2 boys turned up. Wow so welcoming to us and we chatted with Brad for sometime... what a geezer. Sam also was very chatty running about in his new trainers lol. This actually put the icing on the cake from our little break away.Thanks lads Keep up the good work and we look forward to...
