Food has gone downhill since Shawn the owner let standards slip and doesn't give his cooks much control on quality of ingredients. The cook tries her best and makes good food best she can but it isn't up to it's old standard and the cook fully admits and apologises for her own meals. He also doesn't take complaints very well and just laughs them off with no interest in apologising or even using the information to improve. Also overheard on my latest him asking the bar staff which tables have a tab open and him asking them to add 1 pint to each tab so he can help himself. The bar staff and waitress are very young staff and feel obliged to follow to his demands. They are very polite and nice though, I can't fault them at all. Under new management this place could be fantastic as it's a cosy bar and regulars enjoy having a quiet drink here but that's about all they enjoy after speaking to many of them who are all very welcoming. This is my local and really used to recommend this place which served fresh home cooked food. However on my visit recently the menu had changed and so had the quality.

For starter I ordered a chicken skewer with tzatziki and harissa. No harissa and I am almost certain the skewer was the ones you can pick up from Iceland. Certainly not fresh at all

For main I had a chicken Japanese karaage curry. Instead what I got was a few slices of pre cooked chicken with a fried base of onions, peppers and other veg. It resembled nothing like a Japanese dish or a curry and was not crispy chicken as described on the menu. Left half of it as it was tasteless

Pre booked christmas day Dinner herë . It was honestly the worst meal we have had. We booked early November after reading the menu,it read that you would get a range of different veg and thought it sounded lovely, paid £55 per person and when it was served all we got was two really small overcooked roast potatoes,a very small pile of mixed tasteless peas and carrotts a small slice of overcooked turkey ,a small pig in blanket burnt to a crisp and soggy piece of Yorkshire pudding and very weak runny gravy. It was worse than a microwave frozen dinner.The pub was even running out of beers and lager. Please don't get bitten by this place like we was. THANKS FOR RUINING...
