First time at the café, had just watched the Peter Rabbit film at home and thought it would be a good place to eat. (Picked for the name of the cafe)
The cafe is down a country lane and is a very picturesque drive (done slowly), there's a small but well looked after car park for the cafe itself, as well as disabled ramps to the cafe from the car park.
The building is well presented and there's seating in and out. Inside it has a homely feel, with a games table, where games can be used in the cafe and books in one corner to read.
The food is well cooked and in my opinion, at a quite high standard for the price of the food. As one of the other reviews mentions, it would have been nice to be able to put my own milk into my drink, but this wasn't a major issue.
The staff were very polite and helpful. Everything was clean and tidy and staff were ensuring that tables were clean.
It is a little hidden gem and I will certainly be visiting again, maybe even take the dogs (they allow dogs...
Read moreSadly not great. Girl on counter couldn't smile and busy listening to ladies in background and I felt she wasn't listening. White extravaganza cake and lemon meringue both very dry. I had asked if any cream was available at point of ordering but it wasn't. Ordered a tea, two sugars. Asked for a black decaf with two sugars. Got a tea ok but coffee had milk and couldn't taste the sugar. I tried to drink it as it wasn't overly milky, but couldn't. Another young lady came to clear table and asked if there was a problem with coffee, told her order was messed up, she did offer another but we were leaving. A refund wasn't offered or the option to takeaway, she just shrugged. I seriously doubt it was decaf too, guess I'll know later!! While we were sat at least two other people took their drinks back as they weren't right. Girl on till obviously not listening. Shame as could be a good set up given the nice...
Read moreThe staff are so lovely and friendly, sometimes the order gets confused and the breakfast seems to have gone down hill. Solid yolk fried eggs and rubbery barely cooked bacon. But the sausages are delicious and the price is right, maybe it was an off day but I can’t help but think it would be more popular if more care was taken in preparing the food. The tables are very sticky too but other than that the cleanliness looks very good especially in the kitchen which is reassuring. Cakes and sweet treats are all delicious and they have a great range, I’d prefer to add milk and sugar to my own hot drinks though instead of having to send it back to the kitchen for more milk to be added. It has tons of potential but is a bit of a rough diamond...
