Lovely quaint local pub Booked a table but on arrival was told by a young girl it had been booked for next week. No problem though we found a nice table. The menus was rather restricted but I fancied iether the pie or the lamb shank. Though it was early in the evening it was not available. Disappointed I ordered bangers and mash the next best thing. In the meantime time I asked her for the wi fi password but said they had no WiFi by a young lady worker. I thought great at last a pub that doesn't encourage phones. The meal arrived and looked acceptable. My personal experience was it was insipid, plain pork sausages with hardly any seasoning or flavour. The gravy looked nice but just lacked that just something while the mash again just didn't hit the spot for me. Don't get me wrong for most it could be acceptable but I think most people pallets have changed over the years with more exotic and stronger flavours. I paid on a portable point of sale terminal which I'm sure needs wifi. So I asked the male manager or owner why they didn't have WiFi. He said they have, I mentioned I was told they didn't and...
Read moreI went to the white horse today to enjoy a meal and finish off the year with my husband and children as we are a very busy family and donât get this opportunity very often. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful barmaid who was very accommodating with drinks and table service. We had just finished our meals and the plates were cleared to then be asked by one of the kitchen staff to â decantâ to a smaller table to accommodate for 8 people that had just walked through the door. To be helpful we moved to a smaller table to then be told we were in the way of the kitchen door . Well that pretty much finished that lovely meal and precious time with my family. Thank you to the the member of staff who asked us to âdecant to the other table and therefore ruining my enjoyable time with my family by making us feel so unwelcome . Maybe next time look after the customers you already have rather than thinking of the pound signs and kicking us out for a bigger table- we wonât...
Read moreWent here for a meal on new year's eve (have done this before with no issues) and felt rushed and not welcome by one particular member of staff. Our table was booked for 7pm yet we arrived early for drinks. We were seen to our table and presented with menus as soon as we sat down to be told the kitchen closes at 7pm. Needless to say we had actually finished our meal by 7.04. The food was ok but not piping hot. When requesting dessert we were told the kitchen was closed and were then made to feel we were inconveniencing them by requesting another course. Having told the waiter we felt rushed, his answer was "well I'm not the chef!!". As a result, we paid up and left despite our plan being to stay there to see in the new year. We will not be returning which is such a shame as its a lovely pub with a lot of potential. Very disappointed and a sour...
