We had a very bad experience just over a month ago. Two family members came down to visit from Scotland. My Husbands aunt is 70 (although she looks 50 lol) and has a very bad knee. After walking her all the way from our house, we decided on the George so she could sit, eat and relax. A lady who was a member of staff (with dark hair) invited us in with a smile. Very friendly. Within a few minutes after sitting down and viewing the menus, a young girl with blonde-ish hair asked us to leave with no explanation. That's it. I did see the owner walk past our table before this request without making eye contact and I fully admit she and I have "butted heads" shall we say last year, so I immediately guessed this is why the young girl asked us to leave, at the request of the owner. This is totally my opinion, of course. I would just like to clarify this. I am entitled to an opinion. We left with no fuss, no drama, and my relatives were completely baffled!! We actually had a nice meal elsewhere. I do not care what the owner says about her CCTV. That is the TRUTH. I have 3 witnesses to back up what I am saying, and I'd love to view this CCTV footage. I find it astonishing I am now being what sounds to me like a threat, suggesting "further action" simply for expressing my own opinion and explaining how upset my relatives were. But rather than a heartfelt apology like her other customers have received, this is the response I get. Other customers (which the 4 of us potentially were) have posted honest reviews about bad attitudes, poor food, and atmosphere just like I did, and they received an apology. In my opinion, this unnecessary response is very shameful. Furthermore, I'd like to add that it's also classed as defamation(in terms of reputation) in the UK to suggest someone is a liar or call them a liar, especially without proof. I understand I can't request a copy of the CCTV because of data protection, but I feel a viewing with an unbiased third party would...
Read moreAmazing customer service, felt welcomed as a family of 4, All the staff we crossed paths with made sure all our needs were met, they even made sure our 5 year old was kept occupied with colouring in sheets and crayons đ. We all fully enjoyed our meals and making our way through their wine selection. Usually I will pass on a pudding but this time I couldnât pass up the opportunity, and they didnât disappoint, I will definitely be back again for the Gooey brownie!! Overall we are happy with the service provided and are looking forward to our next family gathering at âThe Georgeâ.

Read moreWe thought we'd try the place as it had been newly refurbished. Looks really nice inside. Ambience was a little lacking as there was a draught of cold air circling all night, even though there was a great big fire place that could have been lit to raise the warmth and feel of the place. Our server was lovely and helpful although there were no serviettes on the table and it took a while to receive things despite there being only 4 tables occupied. The food sadly was the most underwhelming. We started with hallloumi, rocket and a honey dip, but it came without rocket. Our meals were nice but the fishcakes were rather bland, only tasted better with the hollandaise sauce and the pasta was too spicy. Hopefully things will pick up as they will continue to find...
