Good sized tearoom in a pleasant setting, with a nice range of quality cakes, hot and cold drinks and light lunch options. Usually, National Trust tearooms offer a friendly service, and one member of staff was very nice, but unfortunately they were overruled by another who had a confrontational, officious manner. Their arguement was that we couldn't get a discount for bringing reusable coffee cups as they had been supplied by the National Trust - as far as I can make out from the Trust's own website, there's no such policy, and numerous other places have accepted them without argument. Plenty of outdoor seating to eat food bought in the cafe and the usual NT shop. Plenty of car parking space (£5 for non members) and footpaths along the river side.
