Don’t know where to start here, if I could give 0 I would, booked a table for 6 people at the Chestnut Tree for Sunday, was there to celebrate our friends Anniversary, they had travelled as had we just to come here. Arrived and they had given our table to someone else, put us on a table for only 5, told them it was meant for 6 people, they squeezed another chair in, 2 of the men in our party are of the larger size and was just impossible to all fit round the table together, the manager said we could move upstairs if we left by 5pm as they had a baby shower party, which was fine, ordered our food, nearly 50 minutes had passed and still no food, but noticed a table behind us that ordered after us had there food, went down to ask to be told there was a little wait on food, more food came upstairs for the table behind us, and we noticed it was our food, asked the waitress, who then just grabbed the food back of them and attempted to give it to us, even though all there fingers had been in our food eating it, told the waitress, was not happy as it had all been touched and some already eaten, she replied “Do you want it or not”, couldn’t believe the attitude on this waitress, I got up and went down to the bar to speak with a manager, as I started to speak the waitress came up behind me and started to loudly speak over me to the manager, without letting me speak or even telling her exactly what had happened, the manager did apologise for her rudeness, but by this point was past forgiving! She said the food would have to be all redone, meaning another hour wait on food, when had already by this point waited over an hour, with kids in our party also! Asked for our money back, as she refunded us the same waitress came out the kitchen and literally said “Is table 37 (meaning us) wanting there food or not”, then walked back in the kitchen, we noticed at this point that a few other tables had been given the wrong meals and were also complaining.
Absolutely gutted and disappointed in this place, I go to a lot of Green Kings & Hungry Horses, as have family and friends that work in them, even used my family and friend discount which got lost for this month, as was wasted, this has to be the worst one I have ever been too, I can’t comment on the food as never reached that far, but the attitude and rudeness received from that particular waitress - Klarice (Think that is how you spell it), ruined a booked meal for a special occasion, no one should speak to anyone in the way that girl spoke to us and my family, especially with kids present, really really upset and disappointed with the whole thing and...
Read moreDirty tables outside. A majority of tables inside that had not been cleared, inside. My first photo shows the table directly to the right of ours, that remained dirty for 30 mins, the next photo us the table to the left was still not cleared by the time we left. I asked for corn on the cob, and chicken with Korean sauce. Corn on the cob and Korean sauce both off the menu. I asked for Chocolate Torte. Also off the menu. The lady in front of me also asked for something completely different and that was off too. When I asked about this, I was told there were 'supply issues'.....
They then tried to charge me twice for the bottle of wine, once on my vouchers, then again in cash (I'm aware vouchers don't cover alcohol, which is why I was trying to pass cash. They charged it to the vouchers then wanted the money too). Trying to explain their mistake was painful, and they were quite disinterested in understanding. My medium rare steak was exactly the same (if a little more cooked) than my husbands medium steak. It was tough, difficult to eat - not sure if they were bad cuts, or just a lack of resting). Didn't finish it, asked for a doggy bag (genuinely to give our leftovers to our dogs, who did enjoy it) - the server looked at me like she'd no idea what I was talking about, and brought me a roll of foil, I guess it did the job....
Onion rings were cold, greasy and limp. Didn't bother with desert in the end, couldn't wait to get out. This was our first visit, it was appalling, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. I know it's a chain, but it should still be edible with a decent level of service.
The last two photos show the sharp seat buttons missing their front, leaving a sharp metal edge. Not a major deal for me, but just indicative of the lack of care around the...
Read moreWe came here for my friends 22nd birthday with the kids, we went to the play area first which was good, Hollie was brilliant and helped us with the drinks, however when we moved into the main area for food our night became unpleasant. When ordering our food the man at the bar didn’t seem to know about the Thursday offers and the children’s meals, starters came and they were okay, however no cutlery which we went to get ourselves, I had asked for the child’s meal to come at the time of our starter so that she wasn’t waiting long, however 15 minutes after we had finished our starters her meal came, the main problem was how long it took for our main 50 minutes later to be served cold and inedible food was disappointing, myself and the birthday girl had chicken New Yorker, the bacon was black, and the chicken we had to leave due to it smelling off, now I have had food poisoning in the past and that chicken was 100% off it smelt disgusting, both of us left our meal and when I told the waiter she said I’ll tell the kitchen that’s it no apologies or anything, the other meals were 2 burger sizzlers, in which the sizzler came warm, we could lift the sizzler pan and physically touch the bottom so no idea how it was supposed to be “sizzling” and again the chicken drumsticks were inedible, we then had dessert as we all was starving, after waiting 20 mins for the child’s ice cream to be told the waiter didn’t order it, I’ve never before felt the need to write a complaint however I have to say I am hugely disappointed, and upset that we chose to have her birthday meal...
