Great food, fabulous friendly service, lovely place to lunch with friends- What a fantastic find!

Having gotten together with close friends and families, we were a group of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids, 2 babies). We'd been out trampolining with all the children, and realising the trampoline cafe was closed, we found ourselves with no where to go for lunch. We found the Crown and Anchor with a quick online search. They were immediately able to help us. When we arrived, a table was already set and waiting for us. There was a roaring fire in the hearth, and the whole place had a honely, welcoming feel. We were seated at a comfy, roomy table with plenty of seats and more than enough spacing for the lot of us + prams, too. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived- the kind of proffessional friendliness that puts you at ease. We ordered in leisurely time- we weren't rushed into anything and yet we werent left waiting, either. The waitress was more than happy to explain what came with what, tell us about daily specials, etc. Everything was smooth and relaxed. The drinks arrived promptly, again everything was great. When the food arrived, it was amazing! The portion sizes are generous but not to over the top- just right. I had the House Burger, which came with fries and pickle. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the brioch bun was done warm, soft and fresh. The childrens menu was again generously portioned and again, just right. The cost was very reasonable and probably less than we would have ended up paying out at the original cafe idea. We will definitely be back here for post-trampolining lunches- what a fabulous place for eating! Definitely recommend this gem of a pub for a nice relaxing lunch...

My friends and I enjoyed a meal here on Thursday 28th July,2022.We arrived at around 7.30 and ordered drinks from a super friendly barman who showed us to our table. The restaurant was busy but the waitress came and took our orders quickly. One of our group had food intolerances and the waitress offered a separate menu and said they'd happily cater towards any extra needs/requests.The staff were having to work around a brand new menu whilst also offering available dishes from the old menu.Unfortunately,my party ordered a few dishes from the old menu which quickly sold out so the waitresses had to return to our table several times for us to re-order.They were prompt in letting us know, very apologetic and helpful- offering alternatives and even giving us free desserts/coffee for inconveniencing us.The food (pork Tomahawk, tenderloin, burger and salmon) arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious.Everyone of us polished off our meals and, although not everyone's first choice, enjoyed the variety of fish and meat dishes received.During the meal the waitresses (Em,Becky and Liv)came over to ask if everything was ok for us.It obviously was because our plates were clean! After enjoying some scrumptious desserts (strawberry roularde, brownie and lemon tart)we took part in the thoroughly enjoyable quiz and paid our, very reasonable, bill. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Crown and Anchor for some lovely food but even more so for the fabulous staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely meal and a lovely evening. They worked incredibly hard whilst demonstrating an enthusiasm and passion for what they do. WELL DONE the Crown and Anchor! Cracking food, cracking prices and...

Visited here as a large family group. All meals had to be preordered from the main menu. On arrival with my father in law who has poor mobility we noticed there are no disabled parking spaces and the car park was reasonably full so had to park a fair distance away from the entrance. Which is ok for us but not great for my father in law. He refuses to be dropped at the door due to principle but that’s a whole other story not for here. Entered to be greeted by front of house and shown to our table. Ordered drinks and once everyone was here food was brought out. Having heard lots of good things about the food here I had high expectations. Only to be very disappointed. My partner has the gammon which looked very over cooked for my liking. He does like his food well done compared to me but said even by his standards it was a little overcooked and dry. I had the house burger. The burger it self was lovely however the fries were just like crispy strips of nothing. Nice and crispy on the outside but air on the inside not even a glimpse of potato. So all in all a very disappointing visit. The staff are lovely and it has a good atmosphere but I won’t...

They do good cocktails and have a great chocolate stout. I have had a cheese fondue served with one slice of bread (there was barely any flavour and it looked more like a soup), stewed pork belly which was great, a mash on the side which was plain and looked like had been on the other plate before and a salad which was fine. Service was mediocre, and place was overcrowded on Friday evening. It was just a pub advertised as something it is not, results - overpriced and pretensious place which I recommend to judje for yourself. If you like pubs it might be just a thing for you.

Absolutely fantastic little pub! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a lovely traditional British charm. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We ordered food and it was outstanding — hearty, delicious, and clearly made with care. You can tell they take real pride in what they serve. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything so right: great service, top-quality. A special shout out to Emily who served us with great energy and a lovely smile.
