Dale Tavern — Restaurant in Barnsley

Found this establishment thru word of mouth quite a few months ago, and been coming ever since. Outstanding Sunday Carvery, one of the best. and advisable to book. Its a free house run by Donna & Jed, who are very welcoming and friendly, and so are the staff. They do a similar Carvery on Wednesdays and Fridays and its cheep, around a tenner for a Carvery Meal and a pint. You don't have to book just turn up between 12.00 and 2.00 on a Wednesday or Friday. The customers are mostly pensioners (we are) but I have seen family's and younger people there, but I think they have to pay a little bit more. Drive through, due to lockdown and it worked flawlessly, you don't even have to leave your car, it ran like clockwork.

We drove up and were given a ticklist for what we wanted to eat, filled it out, it was collected straight away, then payment taken (cash or card), a few minutes later we were driving off with 2 roast beef dinner's, incredible.

They were very well packaged and insulated with kitchen foil, served on a paper plate with gravy in a separate pot to take home.

Ours was still piping hot when we got it home and it was absolutely delicious, tender beef and all vegetables cooked perfectly and large portions.

First visit to the Dale Tavern. First impression from the outside was that it looked a little tired and in need of a bit of paint. Plenty of parking space but the surface is a little uneven. Inside was lovely, decorated to a very good standard, clean and very tidy. Sadly we hadn't booked in to eat so cannot comment on food but it looked and smelled delicious. No craft ale so was left with a pint of Smiths, I can't remember seeing another bitter on offer but there may have been. Plenty of lagers to choose from though.
