Britannia Fish and chips — Restaurant in Basildon

I think it would be fair to say this is among the best fish and chip shops I've been to. I can particularly compliment the cod, the chips, the cod roe and the battered sausage, although others in my party also recommend the skate and the pies. In general the fish is always tasty, and the batter is exactly my favourite consistentcy.

Chips being an integral part of fish and chips, I'd like to particularly mention that the chips here are consistently great, which as a person that prefers chips without salt is a big bonus!

The 2 stars are for the fact that the fish was fish and the chips were chips. The fish was dry and the girl serving spoke with the gentleman behind the counter, told him there were no chips but he directed her to the back of the pan where there were some old dried up chips. She was digging so deep i thought she might come up with a fossil. So after deciding I wanted Fish & Chips and going into a new chippy (For me anyway) I can only express my disappointment at the dried up food I was served and based on this experience, I will not...

Just ordered today, food was awful!!! The fish was soggy and didn’t taste nice at all, the chips were cold and old not fresh!!!! The curry sauce was fulll of lumps and looked like porridge!!! And the savaloy was hard and cold!! Young girl who works there, very rude and offered us a discount for next time!! But I will never eat here again, not only that will be advising family...
