Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Basildon

When arriving there wasn’t a member of staff behind the counter, just a maintenance man servicing the coffee machine. I could hear movement out the back as though someone was either loading or emptying a dishwasher. I then had to wait over 5 minutes before an employee acknowledged me. I also witnessed a member of staff outside in the carpark running back towards the building. She had dark hair in a high ponytail and large Circular glasses. When I was finally approached there was no offer of an apology or thanking me for waiting! Having worked in the retail industry for over 20 years this is basic customer service to acknowledge a customer and apologise for any delay! When the second member of staff came back in she was asked by her colleague where she had been and she proceeded to show her a small boxed item to which they both giggled. Once served I sat down and observed them. Credit where credit due, they were both very efficient when serving customers but not once did they smile!!! Staff were VERY rude last Saturday when me and my wife walked in to be shouted at and told they can only make teas we said oh OK then we was shouted at again to be told we have put a sign on the door yes you have a sign on the door but it blends in with all the other information you have to the glass door and sorry if as a customer we expect to be able to get a coffee from a Costa coffee shop I wouldn't mind if we had said anything but we was just shouted at without speaking a word rude and I will never use this shop again have some respect for your customers an apologise for the machine not working maybe meet them at the door to say sorry DONT stand behind a counter shouting at them as they walk in I have never been treaded like that in a Costa...
