We visited the White Hart on sunday afternoon for some food and some beers, and we were disappointed.
Upon arrival, we weren't served so we had no choice but to use the app which is fine, although this caused us issues.
Firstly, we ordered 2 starters on seperate orders. The first was the camembert sharing board which after half an hour arrived. Five minutes after we finished this starter, only did the butchers sharing board arrived.
The value for money in the butchers sharing board is abysmal. For £25.00, each person got 1 and a half slices of ham, 1 and a half slices of sausage roll, quarter of an apple, 2 pickled onions, 2 gherkins, 1 stick of celery and some warm bread. On top of this, the time it took to prepare this starter, is beyond belief, waiting 45 minutes for this.
Secondly, while 2 of my friends were finishing their starter, I got my main of the roast pork belly, although the pork belly and yorkshire were very nice, I found this meal very lackluster.
Seeing as how long our starters took to be served, we thought we'd get ahead of the game and order our puddings in hopes theyd arrive after our meal, but this was not the case.
As my friends steak arrived, I (who had already eaten my main) got my rhubard and strawberry tart. The other 2 people I was with then received their pudding before their mains.
The bravatta steak that my friend ordered medium rare came out well done, with chips and onions rings cold.
The chicken breast in the burger was far too small for the bun it was in, on top of this, it was very bland.
To top it all off, once trying to finally enjoy our meals, a member of staff tried joking with us about having our puddings before our mains as if it was funny, we were not amused in the slightest.
Overall, we have had a very poor experience at this pub with both service and food, being as it wasn't busy we thought we would receive much better service than what we did. I do not recommend to anyone and will not be returning to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaven't been to the pub in ages and picked a mid-week evening hoping it would be quieter and it was. The White Hart has benefited from investment during the last couple of years including a luxury giant tent, with radiant heaters and warm lighting. There were seats available indoors or on the lawn but the tent is very inviting and we chose to sit in there. It was lovely, my only comment was that it would be nice if the heaters could be individually controlled as we were feeling a little chilly before the heaters were turned on for the whole tent.
All usual, expected safety protocols followed.
Good selection of drinks and staff knowledgeable about that evening's poison of choice, gin.
The food menu is interesting although a little sparse and prices on the whole are reasonable for the local area. We understand the food selection is continually updated (sharing platters are coming soon!) so a good reason to go back.
We fancied sharing small plates so ordered a selection of starters and sides. The food was tasty and we particularly enjoyed the dover crab.
We hope they will expand their British cuisine repertoire with herring, pickled eels, Scotch broth, Welsh rarebit, game stew, lamprey pie &...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAvoid eating here at all costs. I contracted the CAMPYLOBACTER bacteria and subsequently had violent FOOD POISONING for an entire week. The restaurant appointed someone to investigate who found nothing untoward in the restaurants usual practices but had some glaring omissions from their report including the fact they had interrogated me on what I and family had eaten at home prior to this and the fact none of them were ill despite us eating the same meals and the meal at the restaurant being the only different one and also made the claim that campylobacter is caused by Poultry when both the WHO and FSA advise it is also caused by cattle/red meat. Both the Food Inspectors and restaurant told me their findings could never be conclusive and that even said "you'd have to be a fly on the wall to see exactly what happened that day". Furthermore they colluded with the Environmental Health Agency and provided them with their report rather than them inspecting conducting their own independent investigation. Despite all of the above being pointed out to them restaurant still decided their report was enough to not do...
