Broad Lane Cafe — Restaurant in Birmingham

Wow!!! Went to this cafe today and what an experience. Where do I start? As we walked in we instantly felt the vibrant atmosphere. The cafe was spotless. We sat down and looked at the menu on the wall, a lovey young lady came over with physical menus for us all. We explained why we had chosen this particular cafe today (it was Grandads favourite cafe and today was the anniversary of his death). Upon hearing this and seeing that we were a little emotional they comforted us and were really attentive. We ordered our food and were given a ticket which happened to have mom’s birthday on. Next thing we know the staff were singing happy birthday and brought over a small piece of cake each. I’ve never experienced such lovely caring strangers. They honestly made a huge difference to our day and we are extremely grateful of all their kindness. THANK YOU!!

The food ordered was really tasty (credit to the chef/chefs) all was cooked perfectly. The portion size was amazing.

Popped in here with a couple of friends as it had been recommended to us. Lovely cafe, nice atmosphere, friendly staff & well priced. The food was nice and the portions were just right.

The reason I have given this 2 stars is the toilet is one of the worsed I've ever been in. I was even warned about it by other customers on my way to it. It's cold with its whitewashed breezeblock walls, neglected & covered in cobwebs. The toilet itself was full of skid marks & there was even a bit of poo on the half seat, the type I hadn't seen since I was at school 30 years ago. I feel if this is the standard of cleanliness in a public area then what must the hygiene be like in the areas that we can't see. For this reason I won't be returning as I value my health. I realize that staff can't be held responsible for the odd dirty git, however this looked like it had never been checked. Sorry to leave a scathing review for a nice cafe but we've moved in since the 70s & a clean regularly checked toilet at an establishment that serves food is one...

Full of work men who are obviously regulars so get prioritised and while we was waiting staff were talking to them and customer friendly but not interested in any conversation with us. Waited ages for breakfast as staff shouted out a number but we wasn't given a number so didn't no it was ours. To find out that my breakfast was given to one of the work men instead. My husband got his breakfast when we told them we didn't have a number and I had to wait ages for mine as mine had been given elsewhere. They had a normal breakfast which wasn't mine as I ordered with no tomato to find they had take it out the back to just remove the tomato and give it me as the bacon still had tomato juice on. The sausage and egg was greasy and horrible couldn't eat it as tasted vile. No apology no refund no care given. Would never return and 100%...
