Spice Village — Restaurant in Bolsover

My husband and i visited here today after work to save washing up. After going here we would have rather done the washing up! We sat in and the whole time we were the only people there. We had to keep calling the waiter as the young lad at the bar did not seem to know much and when the waiter pulled him up on not doing anything he said that he could not be bothered today. The onion bhajis were over cooked but did not want to cause a fuss. The worst part was that i am a vegetarian and ordered paneer korma and i got a prawn korma, after having a bite i saw the little pieces of prawn. We called the waiter and he apologised. He replaced my food with the correct order but it came out so fast that it did not really taste of anything. After this i lost my appetite so after a couple of mouths full i just left it. When we got the bill the charged us for all the food and just knocked off 10% which was £4. I have been a vegetarian for 10yrs and i felt this was not enough of a compensation for the mistake they made. We will not...

I decided as I was alone for the evening that I didn't want to cook for myself. So therefore took myself in hand and tripped along to The Spice Village in South Normanton market place Having visited it before I knew what to expect. Being a devotee of Indian food I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I started off with a starter a Sheek Kebab which looks a lot like a sausage but is made from lamb and served with a salad. This was then followed by a Chicken Vindaloo with Egg Fried Rice and a Garlic Nann (accompanied by a refreshing pint or two of Kingfisher beer--- most welcome!.). The meals were served and presented very nicely and were hot in arrival. Although the restaurant was busy the staff managed to keep up with both a large party myself and a few others. Placed an order and waited over 1 hour 20mins for delivery.

When it arrived it was stone cold.

Called straight away to complain and all they offered was a discount on the next order.

I said that wasn’t good enough and wanted a full refund only to be told I could have a refund if I returned the food myself.

After waiting for an hour and the kids in bed the last thing I wanted to do is leave them and take food back.

Absolutely shocking customer service all round.

My advice is avoid ordering from these people.

I have ordered from them many times and never had an issue. This will be the last order they will get from me.
