60s styled pub/resturant; (maybe even older); situated in the stunning garden and lands surrounding this establishment. Hospitality 5/5 Plenty of staff on show to keep with rush hour demand and carvery servers were nice a considerate to meat amounts. 🍖 Food 5/5 Everyone who applies to really enjoyed their carverys. Top quality meals all around. As usual I chose from the burger options for my meal..(sad thers not garlic bread) 😕 So mine was a bacon a beef burger with all the extras by accident caused I normally just like it simple. (Man was the burger sauce hot!... 🔥) Aside that. for what I got it was full of flavour a all the usual descriptive words. My cheescake was lemon a blueberry. While the rest were a knickerbocker glory, and a areo sundae; (all of which were great). Layout 5/5 Despite age it didn't seem to bother me much a the decor wasn't upsetting nor old to look at despite era. Best dining for certan taste will be beeter done outside in the surrounding view. Btw. Despite image - apparently the ladies got it better on restroom sizes... 😑 Side note: I was told by relative the 'bitter'? was lovely..(I don't know anything bout drins as a non drinker myself).

We have been coming here for over 40 years. The beer is always first class. The food brilliant. And staff always pleasant and accommodating. The menu has been reduced slightly of late, I used to enjoy, on occasion, the Lincolnshire sausage, but alas that was taken off. All the food is locally sourced. You can book a table now, which is good. The interior of the Hardwick has not been modernized at all, well, nothing that takes away the atmosphere of an old country coaching Inn anyway. There is lots of space and plenty tables outside to eat, It's nice to sit outside in the beer garden at the rear, with a nice a nice view of the owners well kept garden. Since the pandemic, there is less parking outside the Inn you have to park about 140 meters away down the lane, the car park itself is huge. There is a turning circle out side the pub to drop off anyone who cannot walk such a distance. Also since the pandemic they have utilized one of the barns in the front of the pub to purchase your drinks etc. Visiting the Hardwick Inn after a tour around Hardwick Hall would be a great way to finish your day.

Here we have a perfect Jacobean (early 1600's) stone-built inn, in an idyllic setting, just on the southern edge of the ever-wonderful Hardwick Hall estate. Good beers, good food, great service, and an exceptionally outstanding atmosphere – whether outside or in. Grassed beer gardens front and rear, along with a beautiful fountain (rear) and very dog-friendly too. We love that the landlord takes the trouble to keep his barn doors open for returning swallows to nest in following their 12,000 mile journey home from S Africa. We love that the exceedingly friendly staff look after disabled people very attentively, and with good humour. On Victory in Europe Day yesterday, the Inn was dressed in Union Flags and bunting, and even included newspaper cuttings dated 8th May 1945 at the entrance. It is touches like these which make The Hardwick Inn truly exceptional. Needless to say, our American guests were absolutely thrilled to be there, which made us feel very proud. Well done indeed to all involved, and thank you. Best wishes, Anthony & Don

A pub that's in a great position next to a well visited national trust property,,. Can be very busy,. Had a very nice Sunday lunch some years back,,. Decided to return and booked a table for friday night ,, food ok pub fare, for starter I had the black pudding with Stilton,, not bad but at over £6 not worth the price, and how do you slice black pudding so thinly,, wife had prawn cocktail, again not very inspiring and over priced,,. For Mains I had the steak and kidney pie,, very nice,, Sadly the service was very slow indeed,, long waits between courses, sadly observing the area we where sat it was clearly the case for everyone, plates coming out almost at random, in one case a ladies starters was brought after her main course was delivered,,. On paying we where asked if we enjoyed our meal on saying no we where disappointed at the service, a young woman, manager? Came to our table, we explained that we felt the service was not good she then began a tirade telling us they where busy and have 50 tables to serve,. and they take service quality as important,,.but clearly was not prepared to listen to us,,. Our experience was otherwise,, she was happy to point out that our food order was taken at 7.38,,. No mention of the 30 minute wait for the food to arrive,, and then another 30 minutes wait for main course,,. I do not need nor appreciate being ranted at in such a way,, Coming out of lockdown has been difficult for many establishments,,. But if your kitchen cannot operate smoothly with the resources available limit your table numbers,,.

So food ok,,. But a little overpriced, particularly the starters. Service poor, attitude of staff grim Ultimately the pub is a obvious stop for tourists, so many visits will be one hit, never to return,,. I am happy to say I will include myself in...

The Hardwick Inn is a gem that radiates warmth, tradition, and culinary excellence from the moment you step through it’s historic doorway to be greeted by a team of staff who make every visit feel like a homecoming.

🍳 Breakfast at The Hardwick Inn is nothing short of legendary. Each plate is individually prepared with care, featuring perfectly cooked eggs and the kind of griddle back bacon that dreams are made of—thick, smoky, and unforgettable. Whether you’re starting your day or taking a leisurely brunch, it’s a meal that sets the tone for joy to begin your day!

🥘 The kitchen team deserves a standing ovation. Their menu is a celebration of local and regional ingredients, sourced from nearby farms and markets. Every dish—from hearty pub classics to seasonal specialties—is crafted with pride and freshness. The carvery is a particular highlight of ours, generous portions and a variety of vegetables that are always hot and delicious.

🍷 The drinks selection is impressive, with local ales, curated wines, vast array of gins and whiskies to suit every taste. Whether you’re sipping by the fire in winter or enjoying the landscaped beer gardens in summer, the space is always inviting.

🏰 And not to forget the setting—surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Hardwick estate, The Inn is steeped in history and natural beauty. It’s the kind of place where stories seem to linger in the stone walls.

🙏 To the entire staff team: thank you for your warmth, your dedication, and your unwavering hospitality. You make The Hardwick Inn not just a destination, but a beloved experience. Here’s to many more visits with smiles, great food, and the kind of service that turns guests into...

There were three members of staff standing talking to each other as we approached the reception area. None of them acknowledged that we were there. Another member of staff eventually came from the restaurant area and said, "have you booked?. No welcoming or greeting of any kind. It took a while to check and see if there was room for a table for two, even though the whole restaurant only had one party of 16 for the whole duration of our stay!!!!!! I ordered a light lunch of scampi, chips and peas. My sister ordered a light lunch of pie, chips and peas. The scampi meal consisted of five tiny pieces of very overcooked scampi, along with a portion of very overcooked inedible chips. The peas were fine. My sister said that her steak pie was delicious, but her chips too, were also inedible. No-one came to check to see if everything was okay even though there was plenty of staff milling around. I explained to the member of staff who came to clear away, about the food being inedible and she said she would tell them in the kitchen. When she came back she said that I wouldn't have to pay for my meal. My sister still had to pay for hers and we were still charged for our two halves of lager. Both of us didn't have an enjoyable lunchtime experience!!!!! I feel it would have been more appropriate to NOT charge either of us for our meals and our drinks, considering that we had a very...
