We're normally very happy with Dizzy's but our experience last Sunday wasn't good. We rang a day or two in advance to check there would be gluten free options for a visiting relative. We were assured it wasn't a problem. When we arrived there was nothing marked as gluten free. The best that was offered was a sandwich or panini made with gluten free bread. The waiter had no idea what was available gluten free and had to constantly confer with the chef who looked increasingly fed up with the "problem". As gluten free bread was the only option a panini was ordered. When our meals arrived there was no panini. It had been replaced with ordinary gluten free sliced bread. My meal should've had a wedge of malted bloomer with it but I just got sliced white bread from an ordinary sliced loaf. It should also have come with mustard but there was none on my plate. My son ordered a hot sandwich but requested the mustard and salad were not included but was served them anyway. The gluten free meal appeared a good five or six minutes ahead of everyone else's as it was "special" so the concept of a meal together was straight out the window. They don't have a fryer dedicated to gluten free food nor a toaster/panini press. We really were very disappointed. They appear to have different staff in as we didn't recognise anybody behind the counter. The staff we usually see are excellent. I can only hope they're still employed there and we're having a day off. My advice to coeliacs and people with...
Read moreWouldn’t recommend coming here if you are a large table. Booked to come here for my daughter’s 4th birthday meal. We were a table of 11 and were asked to pre order our food.
There was another table there who were extremely loud with kids all over the place and I’m guessing drunk. I understand it wasn’t the restaurants fault but it was just very chaotic.
When everyone arrived it took 20 minutes before the server realised we had a pre order and our food took over an hour from we initially got there. Then our food came out at different times. As I was finishing my food my dad only just received his. The server kindly took the drinks off the bill but we just had a really bad experience. We brought a cake with us and decided to take it away instead of staying any longer than we needed to
I appreciate some things can’t be helped and maybe the restaurant was busier than normal but my little girls 4th birthday meal wasn’t the best and caused me to be quite upset when we returned home.
Unfortunately wouldn’t return...
Read moreAll I can say is this place is EXCEPTIONAL Do book before you visit though as it is only small inside. We were very lucky and got seats when we popped in. We came twice here and we’re not disappointed at all. If you’re near or like is staying at Ribby Hall you have to visit. The food is superb. If you’re getting a veggie breakfast or normal they are both brilliant. I read a review someone else had wrote about the price being high. In my opinion you get what you pay for and this food is well worth every penny so don’t let that review put you off. The ladies that served us both time were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. If I lived closer I would visit all the time. There is outdoor seating , parking close is a tad limited but it’s a worth a small walk. They also have a cake fridge and the cakes look fantastic. Can’t fault the Dizzy Duck at all. Thank you for the lovely service and...
