White Bear Inn, Nelson — Restaurant in Borough of Pendle

As a happy reguler evening customer for food and drink, I was very dissapointed at my recent day time visit...Awlough quiet, the bar staff were too busy chatting to a parking warden that props up the bar most days to serve me when my group arrived, I had to desturb them and ask are they serving?The tables were dirty and sticky.The eldest member of bar staff that day does not say please or thank you when taking your money,does not offer the usual extras that tempt you to buy more, and even forgets to pure you your drink until reminded, she was busy chatting to the parking warden tho. I visit a pub to relax, in this pub you are confronted with a parking warden in full elumenuse dress threatening you with a ticket if you have not paid ( NOT a nice welcome ) and then you have this volcher continuely stalking the pubs car park for another victim from the pubs window, with drink in hand. The food was good,and the other member of staff was very nice when bringing our food, but the other bad service and the jumped up person in authority threatening you with a parking...

Today we went to Gazegill Organic Farm near Clitheroe on the way back we decided to stop at what looked like a lovely traditional pub in Nelson. We went in and found a seat in a warm quiet area and looked through the wide selection of food they had on offer, I went with the topside yorkie wrap, my partner had the topside melt sub and my son had a childs sausages chips and peas. It took about 30mins for food to arrive the girl who served us (glasses and tattoo behind her ear) put the plates on the table and walked away without even a "enjoy ur meal" or "Can I get you anything else." The food was a disappointment with the beef being tuff in both meals and the gravy once poured on the dinner looked like p%$s water, I won't even mention the frozen chips. Not once did anyone come over and ask how the food was or if they could get us anything else. My sons dinner was supposed to come with a dessert but we ended up leaving before they even came and took the plates away. Such a disappointment we certainty...

Vegan review:

I was struggling to find somewhere that had vegan options on the menu for a family meal! The menu had a dedicated vegan and vegetarian section. There were 3 vegans, we opted for the lentil pie with chips and curry sauce for £1 extra. They ran out of the lentil pie and only had 2 portions left but said we could have a vegetable bake. We decided to split everything 3 ways which they were happy to do for us. The food was actually better than I expected!

For dessert I had the rhubarb and custard cake which was served with lemon sorbet. The lemon sorbet wasn’t nice at all and didn’t go with the cake, the cake was...
