Called in for a drink after walking around Cowm reservoir, plenty of on street parking available, nice secluded beer garden, plenty of water bowls doen fir our furry friends, dogs must be kept on leads, dog friendly in the bar on the left of the main entrance signed boots, not allowed in the bar on the right signed shoes. Very helpful staff, gave our dog a gravy bone, we asked to see a menu even though we weren't eating, lots of choices, special deals on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday has a family meal deal kids eat for £2, if adults are ordering food and full roast available on Sundays Special mention of the chill, it comes with a warning as it contains Scotch bonnet chillis, so not for the faint hearted. We didn't see any food coming out as we where in the beer garden but the menu is very varied

What a find, never knew this pub was here, it was Tues eve so only us and 2 more diners in but a few locals having a pint, the food was top notch if I had a criticism, homemade chips and proper cheese on the burger would have been nicer but the gammon and the burger cooked to perfection, service from young girl on bar was impeccable made us feel so welcome, the chef was on holiday so the landlord cooked for us he came to ask if everything was OK, nice guy. Reasonably priced nice country pub feel about the place. 10 out of 10 we will be back.

Nice style traditional pub with 'shoe vs boots' split function offerings. Good drinks range, beer garden with convenient location for reservoir walks. Appealing menu sadly currently let down by service errors (missing item and refrigerated dessert pancake), that were quickly corrected... albeit after odd defensive and sit-beside-you enquiry. Hopefully teething flaws that will get sorted so matches potential.

My sister and myself booked a table here for Sunday lunch to finish off a weekend break in Yorkshire and as its a pub I have always loved for its cosy traditional atmosphere, lovely beer garden and a nice pint of ale, However I have to say the Sunday lunch was very disappointing. The roast beef was of a plentiful portion but very tough and chewy. The vegetables were rock hard, ( I dont mind vegetables being al dente) but these were virtually uncooked and had no taste to them at all , and the gravy was like dishwater running around our plates, and definitely not made with the meat juices so was equally tasteless. The only passable thing was the new and roast potatoes. We sent our plates back and explained why to the waitress. She apologised but explained there was nothing she could do with regards to a refund as the owner was not there. We paid for 2 Sunday lunches that neither of us could stomach and it spoilt the end of what was otherwise a lovely weekend. I think this is very sad after previous times I have eaten...

We visited for food last Saturday and really wanted to like it, as we like to support local businesses. It was busy in the restaurant part, and there were only three staff members to run both bars and waiting on - I don’t know if that’s normal or if they were short staffed. Our starters took well over half an hour to come, but they were nice when they came. There was another long wait for the plates to be cleared and then a very long wait for the mains (with no mention of this from staff). My seven year old, who hadn’t had a starter, was absolutely starving. The food was nice when it finally came. Another long wait for the plates to be cleared, and then I had to catch the waitress to ask for dessert menus. After waiting 20 minutes for our order to be taken, we gave up, paid at the bar and went home. We’d been there for nearly two and a half hours, for two starters and four main courses. The slow service really spoiled the experience for us,...
