Absolutely fabulous place to relax and dine. The restaurant is lit with comfortable, mood lighting that makes you feel welcome. The music is soft in the background and the space between you and other patrons is enough to not feel like you're crammed.
I went here tonight with my fiancé for a date, we've not had the chance to spend a lot of time together between work and the upcoming wedding. This lovely little place melted that stress away for one fabulous night.
We ordered the soup of the day to share, they provided us with an extra spoon and a complimentary slice of toasted bread to go with it so we both had bread with the soup. Tomato soup that was beautifully creamy and the perfect little meal to start the evening off, not too filling at all especially since we shared it. The soup was served to us nice and hot, I highly suggest it.
For our mains we each had canolli, it came out piping hot and still bubbling from being fresh out of the oven. It was divine and the garlic bread we ordered to go with it hit the spot beautifully. Absolutely recommend trying this delicious option.
We were then asked if we wanted the desert menu, at first we were only going to look but they had cheesecake as an option. We ordered it and without even being asked we were given two spoons to share it. Absolutely loved that gesture of service after they'd realized we were on a little date tonight.
To top it off, our server was a treat. Bella was very friendly and made sure the evening went great for us, double checking if we had everything we needed, made sure to ask if we had an allergies (my partner is allergic to seafood and they had a lot of seafood options so it was great that they asked first) and providing us with what I believe is the best service I've ever had in any restaurant. We're definitely going to be bringing our friends here for a dinner before our wedding and most certainly will be coming back again.
Thanks for the great evening and have a...

The rating here unfortunately is purely about the food.
Starters
Olives and bread, and garlic bread with cheese.
The bread with the olives was ok, however the olives were not particularly nice - strongly overpowered by rosemary, and generally lacking firmness.
Garlic bread was bland & the dough used was quite bland as well.
Mains Vegetariana pizza. The dough couldn't stand up to the weight and moisture of the toppings, so became soggy and just disintegrated. Vegetables were cut too thick for how fast pizza cooks, so they were essentially raw. Sauce was not great, essentially had the flavour of basic tinned tomatoes or the pizza sauce you get in bags from catering supply like Makro etc.
Sea bass Sea bass is my favourite fish. Unfortunately in this case, the sea bass had an astringent taste of overcooked lemon that tainted the fish, the skin was slimy yet the top charred and the flesh itself was dry/tainted with astringency. I have never not finished food when out at dinner, but unfortunately this was inedible. I can handle bland but the fish was actually ruined, sadly. Side of vegetables was bland, just some steamed thick cut carrots and broccoli - nothing creative, just like what you got as a kid from your parents.
I have never ever complained in a restaurant, the thought of doing so actually makes me really uncomfortable - so this meal was a first for me, as I felt like I had to pass some comments to the chef. Apparently the fish is cooked skin side down, on lemon, in a hot oven. This is how we ended up with the tainted, slimy yet dry experience with the bass.
Again, the waiter was great, but unfortunately I don't think we will be returning.
A discount on the bill was offered, however I declined - I would rather the feedback be taken onboard & menu changed...
Read moreWe dropped in by chance after a brisk dog walk at the Calf Hey reservoir last Sunday. The restaurant was quiet, about 1/3 full. Appearance was fresh, modern, open and welcoming. Reception was prompt and helpful and we were seated quickly.
We were offered both the fixed price (even though it was officially not available on Sundays) and A La Carte menus. The fixed price is three courses for 15 quid and it was from a reasonable selection here we chose our meals. The A la Carte menu is more comprehensive but somewhat more expensive; something for another day.
Wines seem fairly pricey - the house red (dry and quite sharp) was just shy of £5 for a glass, so better by the carafe - but as I didn't try any of the offered bottled wines I can't comment on their quality.
My Caprese with olives was good (although for my palate a little more Balsamic vinegar would have been good) followed by Salmone Al Gamberetti (Salmon with Prawns in a wine sauce) which was excellent, the fish cooked to soft flakes and still moist, the wine sauce piquant and the accompanying vegetables al dente.
My wife's Garlic Mushrooms went down well and her Pizza Margherita (ordered with a thin pizza crust) was one of the best pizzas I have tasted outside Italy.
Our shared bowl of ice cream was almost overflowing, a mix of Vanilla and Pistachio which was a credit to the art of Buontalenti.
Siena is a family affair and it shows in many ways, attention to the small details that show you that they care; this is not just a job, this is a calling.
Will we be back?...
