I stopped at Runnymede for a coffee as I was an hour early picking up my brother from Heathrow. Despite only being 10 miles from LHR, it feels like the area hasn't changed much since the Magna Carta was signed. The Magna Carta, signed in 1215, was the first document that puts into writing that the King and his government wasn't above the law, Europe's first written constitution, to limit the powers of an unpopular and excommunicated King John. I had always wondered why it was signed here, and learnt that Runnymede at the time was chosen because it was a muddy bog that prevented a battle erupting between the King and his barons. Its a great spot, full of history, and being here feels like you're lost in the countryside. Had a great coffee and learnt something. Thanks to the National Trust for keeping places like this alive šŸ‘

Andy and his team are very friendly and professional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Coffee and cakes are great, hot food looks good too šŸ˜‹ Lovely walks in the woods and meadows along with the memorials you can easily spend a few hours here before stopping back at the tea room for refreshments. Definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area. Dog friendly too, dog biscuits and water available šŸ•ā€šŸ¦ŗšŸ¾

Nice interior to relax in after an exploration of the park nearby! The coffee is good and there’s a nice selection of ice cream, sandwiches and crisps. We had the soup of the day (tomato and red pepper) which was delicious and came with a nice thick slice of bread.

What a terrible shame and shambles, this is an awful place with poor incredibly poor customer service, limited menu, it’s not fit to call itself a tea room. Pre packaged sandwiches, anemic looking pastries and a generally grim affair.

I asked to sit outside and had a small request to have some metal cutlery as I cannot stand the wooden ones. I was told ā€œthe manager had a rule it cannot be taken outsideā€ - I am not going to steal Knives and forks. I don’t think I had asked for something impossible or that difficult. I decided to leave without purchasing anything as I had already been disappointed with a poor menu choice and generally unwelcoming atmosphere.

It’s such a shame as this would be a lovely spot after walking along the Thames. It’s not run well , I would suggest to avoid at all costs this...

We have been visiting this tea room for years. The food hasn’t always been great. They sometimes run out of cakes so only had coffee. On 24th January 2020, we ordered two cream teas. The scones were burnt and hard. They looked like rock cakes. Was told by staff they were soft inside. When I finally cut mine open it was just as bad inside as outside. The staff were rude and arguing in front of customers. I wrote an email over two weeks ago and have received no reply. Don’t waste your money or your time. Disgraceful service and they clearly do not take complaints seriously. I’m now taking the matter further. I would have given less than 1* if I had the option. Never going there again. National Trust, this is a disgrace and represents you as an...
