What a fabulous friendly welcome little traditional pub this is, we had a meal here which was very nice, we sat in the lovely well cared for garden and were made to feel very welcome by staff and some of the locals.. Well worth a visit ( The cats very friendly too, loves a bit of tuna 😻 ❤)

A decent pub with good, standard pub grub. The beer works too. The Castle is on the Lower Road, not far from Bysing Woods and the Gunpowder Mills (also a short stroll to the water). The garden seems to have been redone well. Decor is part pub, part cafe.

Lovely pub, clean, super friendly lady served us. Perfect for dogs, garden lovely and immaculately kept! Food was good to traditional pub grub. We all had empty plates. Sat in the conservatory which was really nice. Definitely be back :)

I stopped here with a group of 10 walkers. We had provisional booked lunch for 2.30. We arrived early at about 1.30. We sat in the garden to the rear of the pub. The only food available on a Sunday is Sunday roast, no other options, we suited us fine. I think from memory the choice was lamb, beef, pork and chicken. As we arrived early, we were informed that there was a possibility that lunch would be earlier. Between us we ordered lamb and pork. By 2pm we were eating. The plates arrived with lots of meat, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. We had separate gravy too. A huge bowl of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks and vegetables - green beans, peas, carrots, mashed swede and brocoli. A fantastic meal, we actually couldn't get through all the veg and potatoes, even with more men on the group. And the cost...... Just £9.75 per head. Fantastic food and value,...

A lovely little pub with conservatory and well kept grassy garden with seating in shade as well as in sun. Very secluded and wouldn't know your near the road. Visited with friends for lunch. Was nice to see pub had other customers and had offers on for Wonky Wednesday. Friendly welcoming staff. Had a bite of lunch. Had fish finger baguette ( which was huge portion and very filling), lasagna and salad, and Mousakka. All food was freshly made, piping hot (not the salad), and delicious. Staff regularly checked all was OK. We also had pudding. Apple pie with choice of custard, cream or ice cream and lemon and ginger cheesecake. All plates were emptied quickly as it all tasted delicious. Already booked to return and sample Sunday roast. Can't wait. 😀 Thank you for a lovely visit & a...

Visited for the first time today and will be back. Beautiful pub garden with sheltered areas out of the sun. Lovely flowers and well kept. Inside is very clean with nice crisp decor. The toilets are also clean which is a bonus. Loved the picture of the hunk on the wall. Husband disappointed that the men’s didn’t have a female equivalent lol. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and efficient. We both had ploughman’s lunch which was a great price and was very fresh and filling. We both remarked that the menu was well priced. This place is a little gem....
