Honestly, this is the absolute best family pub/restaurant for MILES around. (Actually, maybe the best family pub we’ve ever been to). We visited on the 5th of June, just as most of the kids (except ours) have gone back to school after half term. We came as a family - me, my husband, our 2 children (10yrs & 16months) and my mum. It’s almost impossible to find somewhere that we can ALL enjoy visiting but The Bellflower was absolutely perfect.
The weather was beautiful so we sat outside in the beer garden. It was really quiet (I’m guessing because it’s just been half term) but I’m sure it would still be a lovely place to sit out even if it was busy, because there were loads of places to sit, with the tables spread out so it didn’t feel cramped. Our daughter enjoyed playing on the little play area and our car-obsessed little boy enjoyed being able to see the road! It was great for us adults, as we chose a table next to the hedge so we weren’t staring at the traffic, but could easily see the kids enjoying themselves. Plus, the beer garden is completely fenced in, so we knew they were safe.
The menu was HUGE with something for everyone, and various specials on through the week. Everything looked and tasted amazing. 3 of us had steak - all cooked differently and all cooked to perfection, which isn’t easy to do. Absolute compliments to the chef - that’s the first time in almost 7 years that all of our steaks have been perfect.
The staff were absolutely brilliant. From the warm welcome to the friendly atmosphere, to the kind gesture just before we left (our daughter came out saying “he was really kind, I like him) it was just flawless.
Great staff, great menu, great food, great atmosphere, great beer garden. It’s dog friendly, family friendly. It’s just friendly! If you want a relaxed place to have a really good meal with the family, I can definitely recommend...
Read moreWe travelled up from north wales to meet family from Newcastle half way, this time we chose Preston area. We went bowling nearby but the attached restaurant had no availability so we used Google maps to find another venue.
The bellflower came up, we read some reviews and we booked online, it was very short notice and there was five adults and five children to accommodate. It was very helpful we were able to book above the usual party of six immediately and online without having to ring and check.
When we arrived the tables were ready and reserved for us. It was very quiet but we were on an early lunch timing. We weren’t offered the necessary amount of menus for the volume of us but figured that ourselves. We also had to check if it was table service or bar as we weren’t told on arrival.
When the food arrived, the portions were good and delicious. The chips were some of the best I’ve had to be honest. One of our party has some food issues and couldn’t find a meal he’d enjoy so had fries, he did enjoy them but was disappointed the option of a vegan burger like a beyond burger wasn’t available.
The pub was clean, well decorated, very festive. We loved the doggie options. The staff were friendly and helpful when approached. As we were due to leave, a staff member very kindly told us we could use the side door to exit, a quicker option facing straight to the cars. The main door was a longer route and the rain (storm gerrit) was coming down in buckets sideways! It was very much appreciated.

Read moreI had jacket potato with veg chilli and cheese and house salad. Came and the amount of chilli was terrible. It was a desert spoon full. The house salad as stated on the menu was nothing like. Missing kale, brown rice, beans, quinoa. I just got some lettuce leaves, some of which were slimy. When staff came to ask how everything was I explained that the amount of chilli was non existent. She said ‘we said that when it came out of the kitchen’. My husband also mentioned the salad. She said ‘she would get some more chilli’. She then came back to say ‘we can’t give you any as the food comes in set portions and if we take chilli from another then that portion will be short’. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I asked that my complaint be mentioned to the manager. I then realised I had no cheese on it. I went and got a menu to confirm and thought this is enough I want my money back. I went to the bar spoke to a man and said I think I should have a refund as no cheese either. He said we can offer you a free drink or dessert. I was driving and had already paid £3 for a small coke so did not want a drink nor a dessert. He couldn’t help any further. I said I am going finishing what is left of my dry jacket potato I think you all need to discuss the options as I am not happy. He did come over after 10 mins and offered a refund, which I took. Absolutely discussed with the food I received. Was dry, slimy salad and no cheese. How can this be happening. You are failing the...
