We had never been here before, but expected it to be the same style as other well known chains, we were not disappointed, the menu was virtually identical, and prices too.
The place was virtually empty on arrival at lunch time, with very few cars in the car park, some likely to be staff, the table we were sat at was very sticky, using too much cleaning chemical and not washing it off properly causes that, my phone actually stuck to the table.
There was a sign on the bar saying food would be 45 minutes, which considering there was hardly anyone in there, was a surprise, however it was not 45 minutes before the food appeared, but it was not far short. The food it's self was not bad, my steak was well undercooked for a medium, it was charred on the outside and that was it, raw in the middle, I ate around the edges and my better half ate the rest, they are a skip, and will eat anything.
The rest of the food was ok, no other issues there, we ordered two bottles of still water and were given glasses that I would be embarrassed to give to anyone, they were filthy and badly scored in the dishwasher, and yes they were not polished after they come out, as I polished both with one of the tiniest serviettes I have ever had, and they got rid of a lot of the marks on the glasses.
The place seemed to be clean and tidy, but the same could not be said for the outside, it was overgrown, the grass had not been cut in ages, signage advertising the Easter menu, or what ever it was advertising was on the ground behind a hedge so no one could see it.
Overall it was not bad, but bad enough to not go there again, we did not appreciate being accosted by staff half way through the meal issuing us with a card to leave a review, we came for a quiet lunch, apart from the kid crying and screaming for a short period it was quiet as there was hardly anyone in there, and to be honest I can see why. The service staff were prompt and efficient, as were the bar staff, no issues there.
But the outside gives a very bad impression of the place, and considering it is on one of the busiest roundabouts in Boston, near to some huge supermarkets and retails parks, you would assume it would be busier. Staff need to trained on how to clean tables properly, just squirting the spray and wiping without washing it down afterwards, it leaves the tables sticky, and I DO know what I am talking about, having run two restaurants myself in the past before retirement.
UPDATE
They want me to contact them, about what, we were there, they would easily be able to see that, everything else is easily read in the review. as before we will not be coming back, the place is a disgrace for something so prominent on the road, and so run down outside, we love to eat out, and will be trying alternate places...
Read moreWe had a 30% off voucher through the door and fancied making the most of the evening sun so came here for a meal.
Initial service was basic we were waiting at the door whilst staff were chatting, and then without any real interaction, we were put to a table and left there with no explanation of how to order - do we come to the bar, do you come to us? No wonder some other reviewers say they wait too long. A quick "order at the bar when you're ready, menus are here and your table number is x", would be all that is required.
The starter came out missing the side salad, and was basically mass bought frozen chicken in a bowl. Minimal presentation or effort as shown in the photo. The chicken popcorn was hot but the larger pieces were cold in the middle. When letting the team know, we were informed "that's strange because they go in to cook at the same time"... That's the problem, the larger pieces need longer to cook!
For mains, I had a classic chicken burger, which although the chicken itself was nice and looked ok, the whole burger was just dry and pretty boring, I could have done better at home. It had no sauce on the burger, just dry bread, chicken, tiny piece of lettuce... Some cheese, tomato, mayo or anything to add some moisture would have been a good! Also the side serving of burger sauce as written on the menu was missing - to which I later saw from other people's burgers coming out, was just a plastic pot of sauce with lid - like a late night kebab shop - not even making the effort to decant into a ceramic bowl.
My partners pizza looked great, but had chewy chicken, which tasted almost chemically and wasn't cooked fresh, yesterdays chicken? Can't describe it, just odd.
Premium prices for minimum effort and quality.
We're also disappointed that nobody came to 'check' how everything is with our mains and if we needed anything else etc - it's so important to check, seemed like we were just forgotten.
The restaurant and furniture looks really run down and could do with an upgrade.
When enquiring about the strength (%) of larger on tap, it was noticed that certain items are missing from their data sheets so they could not tell me.
With all that being said, the manager was very friendly, apologetic, and offered without hesitation, a free desert, to which we agreed on a refund instead.
It's a shame, it seems like this place has dropped its standards and other reviews suggest it isn't just us, but overall it's still a nice place to have a drink at the bar, or...
Read moreI want to start by saying that our waitress was fantastic, none of the issues were her fault but she handled everything very professionally and is the reason it isn't a 1 star review.
We came in for food yesterday (9.8.25) and were sat near the pizza oven in the children's area and ordered 2 adult meals and an under 5's meal. One of the adult meals was a third choice as there were a few things that they had ran out of, not a problem, I understand these things happen but it sets up how the evening went.
As requested, our waitress kindly brought out the child's meal as soon as it was ready to give it time to cool but unfortunately I had to send it back as the chips were hot on the outside but raw on the inside (the person behind the bar that I spoke to didn't seem surprised but that may just be me projecting). These were fine once they had been replaced.
I ordered Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork and unfortunately, it was inedible, there was literally only a teaspoon full of pork with the Barbeque sauce just tasting like sugar. I don't know if you've ever sprinkled sugar on top of pasta and cheese before but there's a reason it's not a well known dish. Our lovely waitress was very apologetic but as I've said above, it wasn't her fault, I would have hoped that the recipes would have been tested before being put on the menu though.
After around 10 minutes of having the first adult meal on the table, we asked where the third meal (a pizza) was as we'd seen a charcoaled pizza taken from the pizza oven a minute or so before, with one of the chefs chuckling to a second chef (the second chef didn't seem amused) about it being a bit crispy. Our waitress went to check, came back very apologetic and explained that the meal wasn't fit to serve and they were making another one as she spoke. She kindly gave us a refund on the pizza too.
As I said at the start, the waitress was fantastic and dealt with everything very well. She is a credit to your company. I have no idea what was happening in your kitchen though as it didn't seem to be overly busy in the restaurant but all 3 (fairly basic) meals had something...
