This is not the review I thought I was going to write, after waiting 30 minutes for our food in an empty pub. I'd said to my husband that the food needs to be really good for me to want to come back. Well, the chef knocked it out of the park! Mine, particularly, was lovely! Massive plate and the biggest gammon steak I've ever been served, cooked perfectly! The chips are like chip shop chips and are fab! I'd pop in just for the chips! My husband's burger didn't particularly look attractive, but he said it tasted delicious, which is the main thing. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture. He said he would've preferred the burger to be pressed out more, which would also mean the burger would fill the bun instead of looking like a misshapen meatball in the middle. But again, he said it tasted really good. Not keen on the chopping board plate though. I'd started eating mine before I thought to take a picture, but it doesn't represent just how big that gammon steak and plate was! We'll definitely be back for the gammon! 👌

Breakfast was amazing, definitely value for money, no issue's with swapping out the eggs for sausage or bacon, very happy 😀 😋 😊 Went for lunch today, food was amazing, we had 2 of the burgers and a prawn cocktail as mains, the staff were more then happy to change the prawn cocktail from a starter to a main, then we had desserts, omg amazing treacle sponge and custard, hot fudge pudding with ice cream and lastly a biscoff cheesecake, very attentive and friendly staff, food was out of this world, if you drive past, stop and have something to eat, DO NOT go to the competition across the road, stop at the hammer and pincers, yo will not regret it !!!!

What a gem! Called in on off-chance & was able to park in carpark in motorhome for free. New pub owners of 3 weeks couldn't do enough. Offered to fill our water tanks, & very dog friendly, even went to shop to buy more dog treats for my pooch! Menu is family friendly, well priced, plus veggie options. From bar, with pool table, to quieter saloon, to sunny conservatory & enclosed beer garden (dog enjoyed that!) The owner, John & his wife, and staff offered a friendly welcome to everyone who came through the door. Highly recommended.

Awful , awful service ! I've never had to write a review before because I never felt the need to but I do for this, This weekend after a funeral we went to this pub, and the customer service was disgusting. We're all dressed in black, and I feel that as you can obviously see that people have just came from a funeral you should be at least nice to them! My cousin ordered a cake and got one, there was about 5 menus out without stating times on them, so me and my partner went to order cakes. My partner says hello can we order some desserts please and the lady said no really sharply and started shrugging her shoulders, we didn't know if this was a joke or not because of how sharp she was 😂 so he asked if she was joking or being serious and she started moaning saying she was being serious and she done it as a favour, no food is going out till half 5.. She has then walked to the other side of the bar where her co worker is standing and says 'i knew this would happen we done them a favour now they all want it' . I was really shocked by the lack of basic manners, when she came back because we was still standing there she didn't say anything so I said that there's quite a few menus out, just to let her know. But again she was being really sharp and said no im not doing it we don't serve food until this time we done it as a one off so I told her that she clearly had a stick up her arse. Its the way she spoke to us, NOT about the desserts. I was really annoyed by this, I understand about timings for things etc I've worked in retail, however you don't have to be rude about it and also talk about us Infront of your colleague. Found it really rude. We're not local and as again we've come back from a funeral , a simple no sorry we don't do food would've been fine, but this lady was sharp, rude, sarcastic and overall not friendly. Later on my sister In law asked the same question to a different member of staff and he said no food is served until 5 and she replied with oh okay well on the menus they haven't got times and he said NO FOOD TILL 5.. okay we get it, no food till 5 😂😂 this really annoyed me the entire day the fact someone felt happily to speak to me like that, maybe it's because me and my partner are young and she expected us to say nothing, however we're ordering drinks /food from you, youre getting our money 😂 after that i didn't want another drink, put me right off

Reply to owner : thank you for reading but im not upset about the food timings 😂I was upset about the...

Great place to eat the food is excellent, we had the Ribeye Steak for tea mine cooked to perfection (rare) and the good ladies medium, there was a choice of sauces to compliment the Steak all made in house just as it should be Peppercorn for me and Diane for the wife. When the meals arrived the plates were massive and you couldn't see the plate as there was so much food. The steaks came onion rings they were massive chips some of the best I have had, mushroom grilled tomatoes cooked properly garden peas and a side salad. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and all looked very good but I think the steaks we had tonight were perfect. They also do a great range of puddings even my favourite Bread and Butter pudding but I couldn't manage one as I was full, I think next time we visit might have to try a smaller meal that's if they do a small meal just so that I can have a pudding, The pub is dog friendly which is great for us as our Chocolate Lab goes everywhere we go, the beer garden is really good for outside dining but you can also sit in the bar area if it's poor weather. The staff are brilliant very friendly and nothing was too much, we plan on going back as we are in the area for a couple of weeks, all depends on the wife. If you are in the area you must give this place a visit I can highly recommend you will not be...

The food portions were massive, but my steak didn't come how I asked. The lasagne was a bit plain but was pretty decent.

What really let it down was the service. We waited at the bar for about 15 mins. We were then sat down for 25 minutes after being shown to the table before even being greeted. The food then took 50 minutes to come out to us. We were ready to up and leave to be honest and just pay for the drinks. Waitresses were in the kitchen for ages and ages at a time, no one checked up on us and we had to go to the bar to get more drinks. One couple of ladies waited an hour just for their starter alone, we were going to get dessert but didn't bother as we didn't want to wait even more.

Then when we went to pay, another customer had to go and fetch a server .

It's a real shame because the food was alright, but we won't be coming back again.

For an over £40 meal, to have that level of bad service was a really disappointing time, especially considering we were on a date.

Just overall felt really awkward and bit gutted we...
