Not the best place, but ranks amongst one of the worst. Most Cakes are not "in house" but rather bought and sells as his own, or "home made", the sprinkle cake being a prime example, which is purchased from Starbake patisseries. Sets the stance for the other products. The nutty professor was very nice the first time I purchased it, after that something has changed. Very "stale like" texture. Doesn't seem as fresh.
Tea is restless, too milky.
Cheesecakes are very basic level for a high profile food reviewer.
The disappointment lies with the products not living up to hyped up expectations.
The customer service is non existent, not bad, just none. Very robotic no service with a smile, and if anything it comes across as they are doing us a favour being there. Evident in most reviews on Google.
Seeing the owner boast he is buying "all or most" of the strawberries he can get his hands on is quiet disgusting. Leaving everyday customer unable to buy them from local shops. It's not just a bearded bakers problem it's a problem amongst many dessert places which needs addressing. Businesses should stick to wholesale places and not morrisons or aldi or other supermarkets. And supermarkets shoild refuse large sales. I'm disabled, can't travel to loads of shops, and now can't find strawberries in my local shops because of the business rinsing the shops.
I expect a disgruntled response from the owner. Or a sarcastic response of how I wrote a long review. Just backs up the points made by many others on the reviews.
Hopefully products and services can be retained to retain customers....
Read moreTo say the guy who owns this place is full of life and buoyant all over social media, and has a bubbly personality, we were met with a very cold and almost dismissive level of service from him.
With him being the face and driving force behind drumming up business, it was disappointing to say the least. To clarify, I wasnât expecting him to be jumping and up and down with personality, but just a bit of positivity wouldnât have gone amiss.
Now to the dessert. I ordered The Nutty Professor, which was labelled as their best seller or top dessert.
The sauce the cake came in was lukewarm, barely passable to be quite honest. We had waited for approx 10/12 minutes. To expect the sauce to be hot is the bare minimum, and to be served it lukewarm, was very disappointing.
The cake itself wasnât of a high standard, especially paying ÂŁ12.50 for a slice. It was slightly claggy and the âpeanut butter stackâ was just two slivers of peanut butter spread in between; hardly infusing a peanut butter stack element.
Onto the ice cream, which is just very forgettable as far as soft serve ice cream goes. Not worth expanding on further in all honesty.
With Bradford being highly saturated in terms of dessert options, does this place offer something unique and memorable? No.
Does it do the basics right? Emphatically no.
Overall, disappointing and with months of build up it definitely was a damp squib of an experience.
EDIT: Sorry I mistook the price for ÂŁ12.50, but the owners response actually adds to the narrative of him being unable to take...
Read moreAfter hearing mixed reviews, I decided to take the plunge and drive out to try the San SebastiĂĄn cheesecake for myself. Let me just say it was absolutely worth every mile. This wasnât just good; it was phenomenal.
From the first bite, it was clear this cheesecake was on a completely different level. The texture was pure perfection: silky, luscious, and indulgently creamy, with just the right amount of density. The caramelized, slightly burnt top added a subtle smokiness that complemented the rich, fresh flavors of the filling. As someone with a sweet tooth and a knack for spotting freshness, I could tell this was made with top-quality ingredients and attention to detail.
Even my wife, whoâs usually very picky about desserts, couldnât find a single fault. Sheâs the kind of person whoâll point out every little flaw if somethingâs not up to par, but with this cheesecake, all I heard were compliments.
Iâve tried similar cheesecakes from plenty of other places, but let me tell you this one outdoes them all. It doesnât just set a new standard it creates a whole new dimension of flavor and texture. Whatever formula theyâve nailed, theyâve truly hit the nail on the head.
This cheesecake didnât just satisfy my craving it completely raised the bar. For anyone who loves dessert and hasnât tried this yet, youâre missing out on something extraordinary.
(I very very rarely do reviews but I even rang the business back to tell them how...
