I attended yesterday for a very special work meal to celebrate a very special time in my life with my work colleagues.
I booked a seating for 30 people. And agreed that 20 would do the set menu and 10 would do the al carte meal. This was all agreed and I was satisfied with my choice of booking with the restaurant.
I called few days prior and spoke to the manager regarding my booking and this is where it all went downhill. He was adamant that everyone had to do the set menu of 35pp. I explained countless times that I already agreed with a prior manager and the above was discussed and agreed. I was told that because not everyone was doing set menu that they may need to separate my colleagues downstairs???? Why would I want half the group to be separated??? And the only way we could sit together if everyone was willing to pay 35pp?!! After countless back and fourth with this manager he finally agreed but honestly did not care to make this an easy process it was stressful!
I ended up visiting a day before to have a look at the upstairs seating and was reassured everyone would be sat together and everything was resolved.
I arrived and everything appeared to be going smoothly. However, minutes in it became an issue a colleague working there stated we had to all do the set menu of 35pp. It started to become quite apparent that the restaurant do not communicate well and were clearly looking to make the most money from the group! Even though majority were going for the set menu they could now no longer offer half the people to order from the Al carte menu. (But would if they were willing to pay35pp?!?! Make it make sense.
This was beginning to worry me, my colleagues and those who put such effort in planning this lovey meal for me!
After countless back and fourth the waiter finally agreed to allow the group to order what they want. After an agreement a the manager calls me off my table to discuss what is going on! AGAIN. Why are you distrupting my time again and again because you simply can’t do your job?
I’m a patient person but truly this took away from the enjoyment massively and for that reason I would not recommend this place. When a group of you are spending £600 plus this is not how you want to be treated.
Also, the set menu was sold very different to us like everything would be unlimited but they were skingy and did not provide a high level of consumer service.
Also to mention a lovely cake was made for me and they were asked to refrigerate it which they did not do and the cake started to melt and tilt. Having to ask for cutlery, tissues and basic requirement when having a meal was frustrating. And make payment as terrible pushing people to rush down to the restaurant to pay like we were going to run away??? Just embarrassing honestly.
Bottom line, their actions were greedy, poor and I think they need to consider a recap on communication and the importance of customer service and resolving difficult situations. Because I’ve never a seen a restaurant so unorganised in...

Starters: masala fish (I enjoyed this but was over cooked a little as the fish was chewy on the sides and hardly any moisture). Chicken nambali (this was good, definitely one for the cheese lovers and the chicken wasn’t just your usual plain chicken, it seemed marinated beforehand which was different to all other restaurants who serve it). Mix kebab was no good, completely over cooked the kebabs - just dry , but on the other hand the onion bhaji was undercooked as you could taste the raw batter. Chips were just standard chips - cant go wrong! Need to get chefs that are good under pressure? As it was really busy.
Mains: lamb nihari (this was the showstopper for me, the meat was tender, not falling off the bone but a great combo with the garlic naan - a really good gravy with it). Chicken masaledar (I really enjoyed this too, if you like spice and especially naga pickle, this is great - chicken was juicy and succulent). Garlic naan was really flavoursome and they didnt hold back on the butter and garlic. The naan in general was a large naan, definitely enough for 2 people to share (if you’ve had all them starters ofcourse).
Ive gave the service 3 stars as it was hard to get a hold of them at times, sometimes they were there in your face by the table and some times they just went away for 5/10mins. Also, a huge factor is some of their attitude i.e. they didnt seem approachable, not really smiling, if you get me, apart from the waitress (wish she was serving our side of the restaurant), she was lovely. It’s a shame that weirdly, I could see them going the extra mile for other customers but not with us and a few other tables around us. Eg one of the main waiters (he seemed to be taking the lead anyway) on our side of the restaurant, just came upto the table beside me whilst they were still finishing off their starters and said “can i take plates” and just started to take them anyway. Why did he treat us like that but with other customers - he was really polite and gentle, no way in a rush, in a calm collective manner. Really hated that - awful feeling. Good service can really go a long way. Sometimes the food will be mediocre but the service you received made it taste better!
Sorry, I dont mean to give a bad review as I did enjoy most of the food. Its just a few of them waiters messed up my experience especially the main one.
Nevertheless, MAKE SURE YOU TRY LAMB...
Read moreVery unprofessional & rude management. It's a shame there isn't an option for a minus 5 star rating. Booked a table for 6pm for 9 people (family & friends). I arrived at 6pm & my family arrived at 6:05pm. As we were waiting for my friends family to arrive, we were asked to wait in the reception area. At 6:15pm, i got a call from my friend saying they will be here in about 10mins. At 6:20pm, a staff approached me to ask when will we be ready to go to our table. I told him to give us a few more minutes. At 6:25pm, i asked the guy at the reception desk (who originally asked us to wait in reception & presume he was the manager) to take us to our table. He said 'you can place your order whilst waiting in the reception'. If we wanted a takeaway, we would have gone to a takeaway. So i said to him 'we'd like to go to our table & place our order'. He replied 'if you don't place your order at the table, i will bring you back to the reception'. I again said 'we want to go to our table & place our order'. He replied with the same 'if you don't place your order at the table, i will bring you back to reception'. For third time i said 'we'd like to go to our table & place our order. Would you like that in writing?. At that point, he got angry & started saying all sorts of stuff. This all happened in front of my family & other customers. At that point, i decided to leave the restaurant & go somewhere else where we will be appreciated, which turned out to be My Lahores on Great Horton Rd. They provided top class customer service & made us...
