I used to go to this restaurant once upon a time, but i stopped going to this place. The restaurant is beautiful and so are the staff. Whenever i used to go to this restaurant, i always liked to sit on the upper floor as it is nice to look out of the window, nothing exciting to look from the upper floor, but the atmosphere was nice from top to look out, and i always felt like Sheesh Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal means, Glass Palace. Anyway, i never used to go for the food, but i just liked sitting on the upper floor, whenever i used to order Chicken Jalfrezi, i always told the waiter who served me, not to add any garden peas, or eggs in my Chicken Jalfrezi, mistake can happen, but when you tell someone clearly, that mistake should not happen, it was first mistake, okay, no problem, i went to this place not once, but maybe couple of times after the first mistake, after telling the waiter not once, twice, same mistake again, i always felt there is something wrong with the staff here, anyway another thing, whenever i used to go to this restaurant, i always wanted to sit on the upper floor, the waiters always said same thing, that the upper floor is ONLY for family parties, what is wrong to keep a customer happy where he/she wants to sit, its business here, then once i rang before going to this place, i asked the person who answered that i will only come if i can sit up and have my meal, first he agreed, when i went there it was a different story, anyway then one of the staff said "we are not serving anyone upstairs as there is no waiter upstairs". No waiters upstairs, and there were many waiters on the lower floor, all the waiter had to do was bring the food up for me, this is how they treat some of their customers. They are running a business just like cowboys, have no idea what they are doing, making errors on food orders, and etc, since from that day i never ever went to this restaurant and won't...
Read moreI bumped into Sheesh Mahal, on a recommendation from a bouncer in town. Sheesh Mahal is a very tidy and bright building and stands out very clearly, it was the light at the end of the tunnel for my stomach which had gone without food for most of the day!
I was greeted very cordially by one of the wait staff (I forgot to get his name... ((You are a legend my man, you know who you are!)) ), Who sat me at a table and provided me a pickle tray and poppadoms very promptly.
I was given enough time and space to look through the menu and decide what I wanted to eat. There was plenty of choice, but despite that, I requested something off menu on the off chance that the chefs might be able to create what my stomach was craving... "The Legend" told me that they could indeed cater to my stomachs imagination, and so I settled with an Achar mixed with Makahani!
Whilst waiting for my meal, "The Legend" brought me a very tasty chilled lemon and lime drink, which I am led to believe is a traditional Pakistani creation. This went down very well throughout my meal, and as I slowly made my way through the poppadoms and pickle tray.
The main course arrived and the presentation and temperature of the food was fantastic!
The taste of the Achar/Makahani blend was to DIE for! I have had both these dishes individually but together was a match made in heaven, in particular the addition of raisins and mixed nuts to the dish created a mini adventure with each bite!
All this came to a VERY reasonable ~£14.00, which is a bargain at twice the price!
All in all I am gutted that I haven't been to this restaurant before, and I will definitely return!
Thanks Mr Legend and the whole team at Sheesh Mahal.

Food is 4.5/10.
The curry's were very oily and no different to what you expect from a cheaper delivery service, yet I would rate the poppadoms and pickle trays 9/10...
The atmosphere 3/10
The service 2/10
The staff seem extremely bored and just stand their staring at you and your group.
10/10 to the staff for sliding down the spiral staircase on their bottoms in plain sight AND right above a table with children... Not like that is a h&s concern👌
One lad even dropped a plate of chips from enough of a distance to make the question if this lad was being intentionally rude.
Seems they have a need to pay a vagrant looking chap to clean their windows in business hours whilst customers eat their food.. everybody loves the sight of a dirty rag and mop bucket next to a fresh meal
clean windows through the day not whilst .. or just clean plz the menus had grime and the girls toilets where hazardous they had cracks in the windows where you can see the street i wouldnt let my children use them ..
