Not a place to go if you want to sleep. I had to attend an interview and had to go early to sleep. This was not possible because the hotel is actually a bar, and there was music and Karaoke untill late. The bed was really old, bent and you could feel every single spring. Apart from the music which didnt stop until late, the heating system was turned off, and for the first time in my life I was woken up by the extreme cold in the room. It turned out that the heating system was programed to start heating only up to five degrees, 5°C!!!!! The shower was tiny, and you could only have have cold water or boiling water. There is a water heating device to make yourself a cofee, but the milk was out of date .... The wifi had password which no one would give you. If you want it I guess you need to go to the bar and wait untill you get attended. In a nutshell it was a nightmare, the worst was the extreme cold at night and the music which made it difficult for anyone to fall asleep. The reception is the bar by the way, and there is only one person to serve the bar and serve the "hotel". For just a bit more you have real hotels nearby. No doubt, dondt make the same mistake, choose a proper hotel...
Read moreI took a room at Woodslands hotel. First few days went well and the day before I had to vacate the land lady called me and said I’m being fined 40 pounds and remarked if I don’t pay I have to vacate my room immediately (it was around 8pm). Reason I did dining inside the room and left food stain marks on the bed. It is a fact that I ordered the food from outside (food phamplet distributed by the bar lady Sandra and she did not tell me anything about the rule not to dine in the room. In fact she is the one who gave me plate, fork, spoon and knife on my way to the room before o had my dinner). The land lady’s walked into my room and complained I have made food stains on the bed and tried to show the marks (which weren’t there available). She showed me the rule book and then I realised she is drunk that day. After lot of negotiation we settled in for 20 pounds and the receipt was a hand written paper. I took photo of her as an evidence she is drunk. She saw that and took photo of me. The music was on well past mid night and I had a highly embarrassing and unfriendly time. Don’t ever stay...
Read moreThe place was nice, we were celebrating 2 birthdays and got a quiet corner to eat in which we liked. Most of our party enjoyed the food, only let down by overcooked beef in the Yorkshire Burrito we ordered and the Louisiana ribs weren't great. The lasagne was also not good. The menu says certain meals come with this and that but they don't so they need to update that, and the website which is a completely different menu so a bit misleading.. The worst part of our visit was who we assumed was the landlady came over and told us the kids we had with us were going "wild" by shock horror" opening and closing a door that led out to a small playground. When actually it was another little boy who was throwing mud around (apparently was "the landlady's" own nephew, so who was going wild really?). One of those places I feel where if your face doesn't fit they don't want you there. Such a shame since I'm local to there and would have gone more hadn't it been for the hostility we felt. No worries though, won't be...
