Classic greasy spoon cafe, and doesn’t pretend to be much else. The food was good and the staff attentive, so just what I needed in this respect, but the place is in desperate need of some renovation and decoration. The tables and other furniture were tired and didn’t look particularly clean. And the flush in the male toilet was a cable tie attached to the cistern (and didn’t work particularly well).

The car park is spacious, but has a mix of gravel and an uneven surface. It does what it needs to, but take care if arriving on a motorcycle.

I enjoyed the food overall and the portions were generous (I had Special 2 - a slightly smaller full English than the first option). If you’re in the market for a fry up, this’ll do you, but you may find better if you look slightly...

If you are a fan of the classic greasy spoon this is the place for you. Traditional English grub, served piping hot, generous portions, no frills and good value for money. A totally matriarchal business with a particularly charming young lady serving the tables. The place is situated on the slip road leaving the southbound carriageway of the A12 into Hatfield Peverel. Take care when entering and leaving. Whilst large the car park has the kind of surface that any rallycross track would be proud of. D's is particularly popular with the older generation. Like all greasy spoons the diner is not licenced and closes in the early afternoon. So it is certainly not a place for...

We came from the ferry from Harwich and looked for a diner for breakfast. Some craftsmen vans in front of the house, so it has to be good, we thought. We had the special 2 menue with two eggs, two slices of bacon, one saussage, beans and a hash brown. Four slices of bread and one coffee and one hot chocolate. It was all very good, hot and enough. The only thing was that the bread could have been toasted. The ladies in the service were very friendly and helpfull with the expressions we didn't know. From the outside it is not very inviting and it was a bit cold for us inside.

But we will have it in our minds for further journeys and will...

D'S is a little hidden gem of a place when youre looking for quality food at a reasonable price. Although it mainly caters towards car drivers, i managed to get my truck parked out the front, I ordered the Breakfast 1, which was extremely worth the price. Its not a high end restaurant, its the ideal place to stop off on your journey and enjoy a hearty breakfast or snack. Although the buulding is dated its ideal for what you need The staff great you with a smile and are very pleasant. Highly recommended

Proper Full English breakfast😃😃Good quality sausage and bacon. Fried bread was really good. Egg cooked perfectly, really tasty bubble and squeak. Mushrooms nicely cooked and to top it all off tinned tomatoes which go so well with a fried breakfast. Overall a very good value popular place. Order at counter and they give you an order number. Which they call out and bring your food to you. Well run place, nice and clean and good friendly staff. Thank you for a great breakfast 😃😃

A fantastic transport café without the lorries. Located on the Hatfield Peveral slip, A12 southbound - SLOW DOWN. Ideal for a brunch stop. They do an excellent wide range of freshly prepared-cooked breakfast, lunch, drinks. It's friendly good food, nothing fancy. Basic facilties. Open mornings, closes mid afternoon.
