I have just sent this email to the Gemini! Hello, My partner and I visited the Gemini this evening (Saturday 4th September 2021) with his family (7 adults & 5 children,) which was booked under a reference of Anne. When our food arrived two of the children's pizzas were cold. My partner had the mushroom and ale pie, which was cold in the middle. One of the adults had chips with curry sauce. There was hardly any curry sauce on the chips and she asked the bar staff for more curry sauce and he said yes I will get you some more, the curry sauce never turned up. I had Whitby Scampi, chips and mushy peas, which were warm. The scampi was a measly portion. One of the bar staff who were also bringing the meals to the table, said "I am going to kill him (the chef,) because of the amount of meals which had to be returned to the kitchen and cooked again. The same bar staff came back to the table to say "The chef got himself in a tantrum and kicked the fridge and has broken his toe." ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR.
I know how stressful it can get in the kitchen, as I have been in catering since leaving school. I was a pastry chef at The Ritz Hotel, London. I have also worked in school kitchens. Now I know that the Gemini isn't The Ritz where everything is cooked fresh, but all the food you cook isn't fresh and is out of the freezer. So it is cooked in the fryers or pinged in the microwave, so no catering qualifications needed. I hope that the chef has a level 2 food hygiene certificate.
I look forward to...
Read moreVisited Gemini couple of times now since its very local to us. Hunters chicken is amazing, onion rings simply delish. The portions are big enough and I like the deals on the menu too. Children always smash their plates, although I've never tried ordering pizza for them. I think pizza is a speciality of places like Dominoes etc not a local pub so I don't think it would ever be cooked from fresh. I dont mind kids food being warm rather than hot as its easier for them to eat it. I was lucky my stuff was always pretty hot. Any way price wise grate, cheap and cheerful. The only downside and the reason for 4 stars is deco. Chairs could do with a good scrub and tables seem always sticky 🤔. Also I understand people love their pets and some customers are happy eating next to their 4 legged mates but its not my cup of tea. In fact I'd rather not see animals in a restaurant unless they are guide dogs. But that's just me. Stuff very friendly, can't complain. Overall we will be comming again...
Read moreOn sandy lane near the centre of dereham. Good parking spaces out side. Wheelchair friendly. Lovely play area for kids next to the beer garden. Very welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Have to go to the bar to order food/drink. A wide range of drinks available alcoholic/none alcoholic. A very large seating area. Clean and well presented. The only down side is that we waited nearly 50 minutes for our food after we ordered it. The pub was not that busy. I think we were one of five couples there eating. We only ordered burger and chips. Cheesy nachos. The food was hot and very tasty, and the waitress did apologies for the wait. But all was made up by the weekly offers the pub has on food, so i paid for one meal and got the other free. Can't complain about that.
Yes i would recommend the gemini, over all its...
