Norfolk Kitchen — Restaurant in Breckland District

After the travesty of catering that is The Canary and Linnet, we decided to go further along the A47. This little haven lies in the marketplace in Dereham. A slightly tired exterior gives way to a similar interior.

But it is clean, spotlessly so. The menu is a plethora of well priced dishes. Ordering is done at the table, the waitress was pleasant and friendly.

After a short wait the plates full of food arrived. My wife had a full English with beans, I had scampi, chips and peas.

The chips were amazing. Obviously freshly cooked in the kitchen, but not from a packet, these were made from potatoes, you could tell by the way they were cut, some had odd slices to remove eyes. The scampi was wholetail, the only let down was the peas, but that is only because I do not like marrowfat peas. But you could tell they were boiled with mint in the water.

My wife's full English was a full plate full. Fried slice, sausage, 4 rashers of bacon beans and an egg, along with a slice of bread and butter. The egg was hot, cooked properly and not greasy.

The deserts are very reasonably priced, could do with slightly larger plates though, the ice cream kept escaping onto the table. The coffee is delicious, full bodied and again well priced. We...

I was walking my dog through the town today and my dog decided to foul outside this restaurant, it was only a little one and lucky for my sake she didn't decide to her a wee with it.

I was greeted by a very RUDE lady, I later found out it was the owner of the restaurant.

My little dog was in mid flow and then I hear words OHHH REALLY, WE SELL FOOD IN HERE 😳

I'm not quite sure what this lady expected me to do as this was on a PUBLIC PATH....

I sent a message to the restaurant via messenger, and they said that customers complain about dogs fouling... I didn't receive an apology for how I was treated and no explanation of why and what I was expected to do.. I have now been blocked so that says it all...

If this is such a problem for customers, maybe they need to close there doors and open a window or get screens put up....

I'm Very disappointed and sad that this can happen and the OWNER thinks its OK to treat...

This is a cafe, a good old fashioned cafe no frills, no fancy menu, just good food at great price and yes the place may not be to everyone tastes but it's a old building and yes the decor will not be to everyone tastes, but I just loved it. The lady who served us was very nice we had a laugh and joke with her. I had ham,egg and chips, husband had sausages, egg,bacon and chip and you just couldn't fault it it was lovely and for the price great value. And for a naughty desert a knickerbocker glory a propper knickerbocker glory I was heaven. It's cash only, not sure about WC but if you need to go there are other places. And if you want greenery then you are out of luck but if you want to be naughty and not feel guilty about it then this is the place to go because it's not on the...
