The Orchard Café — Restaurant in Brentwood

Friendly staff but food wasn’t up too standard for what we paid. Just under £15 for 2 x sausage and onion baguettes and 1 bacon roll Only two sausage per baguette and the onion portion was so small, little bit of diced onion, you’d get more in a McDonald’s burger. I’d expect to have a fair amount of just chopped and fried onion as I have in many cafes and I’d expect atleast 3 sausage per baguette. They even put sauce in one that was supposed to be no sauce and then put that baguette in a bag and back with the other bread saying il use that later, sorry yeah mabye at home you’d do that but not in a food establishment where someone else is going to come along order a baguette with red sauce and be given that which has been sitting in the bread box for however long making the bread soggy.

When you pay to be eating out you’d expect to have it the same or better than what you’d make at home but this wasn’t the case , we was only passing but definitely will be avoiding this in the future. Might be a favourite for local people but total was of money for the quality and quantity of food we got and I expect better from independence cafes like this.

Also to note there was salad items such as cucumber , half a chopped tomato etc that wasn’t covered or wrapped in the front counter which is just lazy, put a bit of cling film or atleast have some tubs to...

The breakfasts are amazing complements to the chef and all the staff !! Also on speaking to the owner they get all their meat from local farm in Essex, all eggs they use are free range from button farm, and bread is from a local bakery, nice that they are supporting local businesses too !! And for top quality food it is so reasonably priced, and all breakfasts come with tea or coffee bread and butter or toast, my full English breakfast was £5.60 !! Also have heinz beans and proper sauces none of that cheap stuff...

Best kept secret in Brentwood … A lovely unexpected find! We stumbled upon Orchard Café while out walking our Weimaraner. We ordered the egg, cheese and bacon sandwiches on granary — one of the BEST ever.

The excellent food, service, and friendly owners- James and Claire - makes this a place to definitely revisit. Very reasonable prices, outside seating, social distancing measures in place, and even water bowls for dogs! Thank you! Can’t...
