There are 2 Costa's within the hospital, this is a review of the one halfway along the main building. Thought, care and preparation has been put into COVID-19 preventative measures, as you would expect within a hospital, but these measures are maintained to a high standard. From clear signage, including on the floor, to protective screens, clear and ample social distanced walk ways, and plenty of hand sanitiser stations. The whole establishment is spotlessly clean, all the tables are cleared in a very timely manner and then sanitised, the outside courtyard area is kept clear of rubbish and detritus, and the baristas work area is again spotless, everything is wiped down after each use, nothing is left to pile up, and the work flow seems very well managed. Now onto the most important issue and that of the products served. I am newly diagnosed as dairy intolerant and so still awkward about asking for oat milk lattes, but it was not a problem for them to do, along with a black americano for my husband, who was the reason I was visiting the hospital. The transaction was completed with payment by contactless payment. The drinks were made quickly and I was offered a drinks holder for the 2 drinks straight away. Both the coffees were very good, nice and hot, well roasted coffee, and my latte was very tasty. I have returned to the same outlet, passing the first Costs in the hospital, on my following 2 daily visits. If I did have one very minor issue it would be that the bottle of water I purchased was not very cold, but I asked for a cup of ice and I was provided with that without hesitation or question. I'm writing this early in the morning so I will see what today's visit brings, hopefully another excellent oat latte and black americano. Thank you to the team at the Costa for making my daily visits to hospital just that little bit...

I picked up a surprise bag from Costa at Southmead Hospital today and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
This was my first time collecting a surprise bag from this particular Costa, though Iāve had several good experiences with other Costa branches. Sadly, this one was by far the worst ā I honestly donāt think it could have gone much worse.
When I arrived at the counter, the first staff member told me, āUnfortunately, thereās nothing left.ā A second staff member quickly stepped in and said she would check with the manager. She took a paper bag into the back, and although I didnāt see the manager, she returned shortly after and handed the bag to me.
When I opened it, I found only two pieces of tandoori chicken and a pot of porridge. That was the entire content of the bag. Given how things played out, I couldnāt help but wonder whether the original bag intended for me had already been given away or sold, and that what I received was put together as a last-minute replacement.
I completely understand that surprise bags can vary, and Iām usually happy to take that chance. But this felt more like a rushed attempt to fill in for something that had gone wrong, rather than a fair offer of surplus food.

My mother got served by a lady who made her drink way too hot, myself and my mother asked her to remake it as it was really hot. We both explained that I saw a lot of steam when she was making it, inclining that it was too hot.
She said āIām doneā and refused to remake the drink after we explicitly asked for her to remake the drink. She didnāt listen to us, the customers. We explained that all staff members, no matter where you work in the UK, you have to listen to the customer, and you can get pulled up for bad customer service.
My mother then went to try the drink, and our suspicions were confirmed when it was too hot, I went back inside and asked to remake it and explained again that the original drink was too hot. I also explained that we did ask to remake it before as it was too hot and as mentioned, she refused.
All staff members at both Costa branches within Southmead Hospital are really slow and can never get queues down, no matter how many people are working.
I hope when we go into the hospital again and use Costa, that particular staff member will not...
