First visit for years , great beers at fantastic prices , a lovely little garden and great people in there and today I went here because my second favourite beer has been added , always well stocked too

Drinking Blackthorn today, but the Real Ale (Butcombe) is 10/10 and as it should be (Flat). I can’t see how anyone can post bad reviews about this place unless they work at/for the nearby competitors!

Original review at the very end of this.

Unreal! Arrived there 10:30pm New Years eve after checking the night before that they were open and we could come. They had locked the doors, not because they were busy, because they made that decision. They didn't tell us the night before and ruined our chance to celebrate. Despite reasoning, logically and politely. Obviously not great for me, a local that wanted to celebrate there. So, nice pub, good atmosphere, but management very inconsiderate. Totally ruined an important night where plans were specifically made. So, never going back again! Customers lost forever. It was the easiest thing to do to accept logical genuine reason, but stubborn is stubborn and should be pointed out. If I won't edit original review (below), because it was genuine, but it is ironic that the response was "Come and see us again soon x"

"Dominus mentes et oculos in templo deae amittat".

One of just a few real pubs left in the city, A place where you can quickly talk to strangers, I say quickly because within minutes, they are no longer strangers. Many places used to be like that, sadly less and less these days. A real warm atmosphere. Thank...

A lovely little pub at the back of redfield.

Friendly staff, and very welcoming.

It was a date night, and as far as the pub was concerned, was very good.

If this were closer to my doorstep, I'd certainly be happy to attend regularly, sadly for me, it's the other side of town and 2 buses.

Prices were extremely good.

I drank double jack Daniels n coke as a medium long drink, and was very happy with what I paid.... Surprised is more correct tbh.

Only 2 negs ... No hot food of any sort. That means no pies, or chips etc, IE classic pub grub.

Didn't do coffee or tea. I'm not always in a mood for booze, so would have been cold fizzy, water, or cordial to drink.

These minus points were not enough to lose a star tho. It can be expensive to serve hot food (a cook, plus even a restricted menu, would still need an oven, chipper, grill, microwave, insurance etc. so I get a small place not doing it.

Tea and coffee tho, would only need a kettle for tea, a small machine for coffees.

However, enjoyed my time there, and as I said above, had it been a lot closer to me, I could see me becoming a...

Food - just check out the menu, incredible to be honest, I've never seen anything like it!

Service- Mandy and the staff there are friendly and kind and they have made the space feel that way too, which brings me onto the next point -

Atmos- people are drinking in a place where the people that run the pub really care, so they're relaxed in comfort. I can't wait until my next visit!

Additional notes-

Jukebox!! Pool table Decent outside space (good with the current weather! 🌞) Prices - you will not believe the...
