Tuesday night at the Chelsea ... what a proper lovely night in Easton. Imagine the scene .... two or three fairly chilled munters who've been at it all day and are looking a bit sheepish, wishing the night would proceed with haste. The old (and young) boys coming in to set up and play some of the best and tightest trad jazz I've heard in a long time. The smokers and chatters out the back by the fire keeping it real. The couple of 19 year old students who walk in slightly warily then find their feet when they get to the bar. The barman who served me The Balvenie tonight (In my mind one of the nicest sipping whiskies in the world) a gracious and generous spirit indeed. The chap out with his dad, still enjoying a pint together. All in all a great big soup of everything this city has going on ... all rubbing along together quite nicely, thank you very much! Look and learn. There's way more that joins us than separates...
Read moreWent to a jazz night hosted here and knew from the door alone before I entered that this was going to be a sick venue. This place has it all, rustic decoration, cheap beer, sassy bar staff and an authentic community feel amongst all the locals. One man tipped his hat to the band as he came in, paying respect to the rules of society this place has not forgotten. Special mention needs to be made to Roxy, the fire chief of this establishment. Very glad to have found this place and thankful to have had such a...

The rest of place is decorated with an eclectic mix of trinkets and other such decorations. Very affordable for Bristol which is always nice. Often good gigs and good local bands. This pub always gives me a sense of wholesomeness, I've never come away having not met new people and while I like the roudy atmosphere of many punk and alt pubs, sometimes I really appreciate that this one is a little more chilled out.
God bless the holy Easton trinity. The Lion, the Plough,...
