At a close family funeral "A Piece of Cake" provided the finger buffet ...it was amazingly good..in fact so many people commented on it that I feel I have to put this review in praise of the food.

One occasionally hears a comment like "not a bad buffet" when at a function but the quality and taste of everything from "A piece of cake"was just wonderful..we all kept sensible distance due to the current Covid problems but several people (including me) were saying how tasty the food was which is way more than one would expect?...my nephew made a point of saying that the sausage rolls (he is a big fan of sausage rolls) were the nicest he had ever eaten...for myself I have to say the same about the quiche...absolutely mouth watering...

All I can say is ...if you are planning a party, a wedding or like us need to sadly cater for a funeral then look no further..I know I might sound a bit over the top with my praise but there is no other way to describe the food than "absolutely excellent"...I have never actually been to this cafe although a family member lives nearby...but take it from me I will be visiting it the next time I am...

I recently visited for my 55th birthday with my sons and did not have a very pleasant experience.

The car park was full of cars, even though the tea room was seemingly empty. When entering, we were greeted by two older ladies who were frosty and made me feel uncomfortable with their manner. One lady was passive aggressive in character and when we asked to move tables for a window view, we were made to feel like we were being unreasonable. The atmosphere inside was akin to a mausoleum.

This was my birthday experience and I can’t say I had a very positive experience. I complained to the proprietor who told me she trusted her staff “implicitly and they were super friendly” implying that they were not rude and it was me who had the problem.

Her response left me feeling like my experience and opinion as a customer was not important — even though we spent over £40, which is more than generous in a tea room.

All in all, I won’t be returning to A Piece of Cake, at the very least, you expect a welcoming and pleasant experience from service...

Well what can I say On arrival i couldn't park as no spaces but cafe seemed empty inside I was asked to wait for a table and then sat down Menu was ok boasting butchers meats I ordered a breakfast and coffe Coffe was hot and ok Breakfast was disgusting Hashbrowns where undercooked Bacon was chewy and tuff where it's been reheated Baked beans where microwaved and tasteless Sausage was full of gristle

I left the breakfast and they could clearly see I wasn't happy with it. 5 staff members in front of house not 1 came over to check if everything was OK with the food. I waited 30 minutes and still no approach they where more intrested in chatting amount them selves with there backs to the customer.

Certainly will not be coming back or bringing potential clients to visit Avoid at all costs Terrible service...

Stopped in here for breakfast while my car was being fixed. It's a weird place, the building and decoration is really warm and inviting, we ate on the second floor, big windows and chunky wood furniture, but it's really tired, stains on all the carpets, marks on the walls and sticky tables, but in a way it kind of feels more homely for it. The staff are really nice and attentive and provided excellent service. The food is where this place really shines! The breakfasts were incredible! Super generous and well priced, fantastic quality and we had nearly a whole loaf of good quality bread on the side. I'd definitely recommend giving it a punt.

Had lunch here after a lovely walk at Horstead. It is really important to book a table as it is a very popular cafe/restaurant. Parking can also be a problem for the same reason. Seating is a few tables on the ground floor with more upstairs. Menu is very varied with lots to choose from and specials of the day. It's good value and the panini's we had were very tasty and served with salad and coleslaw. There is also a large selection of cakes and scones if you just want a snack. We also had a large pot of tea to which they kindly added an extra bag! Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.

The staff are super friendly here and welcomed us straight away and allowed us to bring in our dog. We had a milkshake each and a millionaires slice and a coconut and apricot cake, both of which were the right balance between rich and fluffy and very fairly priced for the size of the pieces. You can tell these are beautifully homemade. They even let me add a syrup to my milkshake to make it a little different. We had a voucher to use which is why we went in the first place but liked it so much that we ended up keeping the voucher to use it for another time to try out their tasty sounding lunch menu.
