This particular 'branch' of Costa is an unusual one.
Located in a prime area in Thorpe St Andrew, it allows for easy access when linking the NDR and the A47.
We've visited during the week, and whilst busy, drinks were done perfectly and waiting times were minimal. Coffees and hot chocolates truly hit the spot and would keep us going time and time again.
We've also been at the weekend, on several occasions; and this is why I say it's unusual. It seems the weekend staff have no idea on what to do.
Visit on a Saturday or Sunday, you can be delighted with longer than average queues. Even with a short queue, you can still enjoy a long wait.
When the drinks are delivered to your waiting hands, don't have high hopes. Coffees are regularly done far too hot the beans are burnt and taste naff. Hot chocolate gets the same treatment, don't bother ordering any extras since you probably won't get them.
Visit during the week by all means. If you need a coffee fix at the week, I'd recommend...

For the last 4-6 weeks not only have I waited for upwards of 20 minutes to get served in store, I've had to have my drink remade as many as three times for the same order!
It has gotten so bad that the staff cannot even take or make the order right forgetting extra shots, using wrong milk or syrups (someone with a nut allergy better not order anything with syrups as you are as likely to end up getting walnut as caramel).
When the drive through is open, which is nearly never, the wait is long and the order is never right. I watched them do my coffee and rather than using the skinny milk I asked for they used full fat milk, when I pointed this out the response from the lady making my coffee was "Oh you want skinny milk now do you?"... Well, seeing as that is what I asked for, yes I do!
Avoid this place like the plague if you can. I hear a Starbucks will be built close by soon, I cannot wait for...
Read moreCosta is typically a good place for a quick coffee but this place seems a lot more relaxed than most Costa's I have visited. Its proximity to the A47 would have made me think that the prices are going to be inflated but they are normal. £3.40 for a large hazelnut latte is about the going price normally. No one seems to be in a rush making it an ideal place to stop and get some quiet time or to chill out with mates for a quick brew. I really like the aesthetic inside as its a mix of modern and industrial without making one over powering the other. The staff seem nice enough and generally take the time to chat. Very nearly didnt stop as finding the way in for the first time was a bit of an issue (just me being half asleep). The only down side is the outside is surrounded by buildings but then if you have pleasant company your unlikely to be...
