I played at your course 17/08/24 tee time booked at 12.30 as a two ball.

I have had this course on my wish list for some time and I was glad that I managed to get a tee-time for the above weekend.

I booked the tee-time approximately a week in advance with no indication of any course maintenance being carried out the week prior to my round.

The club states that it’s a premier course with first class facilities. I couldn’t fault the pratice range, chipping area , putting greens etc…

However, on notifying the pro in the shop that I was due to play he told us that for that day it was flag position 1. And duly gave us a card for this. However on arriving at the 1st tee on the wooden board it stated that it was position 3?

A member of your club, asked if he could play with us due to him being on his own, for which we were happy to oblige. This gentleman stated to us at the 3rd Green that the correct pin position for the round was position 1. And not pin position 3???? As stated on the board by the first tee????

As we played the first hole, we noticed that the green had been dressed and toned subsequently all the following greens were dressed and toned too.This was not mentioned by the pro in the shop, nor was it stated on the website that this was carried out on the Wednesday, 3 days prior to our round.

Obviously the greens affected our round as you could not properly put in these. And we believe we should have been made aware of this, and especially for the cost of £125 pp. Had we have been told we would have played at a different club.

I approached the pro after my round and told him my concerns regarding the above mentioned issues. The response I got was “ok thanks for letting me know, the club would take on my concerns and thanked me for raising this.” The round was definitely not worth the fee paid due to the above issues.

Also I have directly emailed the club and have had no response back either,...

I've just read the reviews and feel there needs to be some clarification.

The original Royal Norwich Golf Club closed and moved to a new site back in September 2019 reviews prior to this date will be referring to the old course not the new one.

As a member it's fair to say I had reservations about leaving the old site, 3 years on, I'm pleased we did. The course layout is a real test of golf and despite being only 3 years old is maturing nicely.

To recap if you're reading reviews from pre September 2019 you are reading the old site after September 2019 the new site.

My advice, come and see for yourself one mans feast is another mans poison as they say.

Royal Norwich can rightly proclaim to be a premier golf course not only in Norfolk but also in the rest of the country! A most enjoyable round was had today after a very tasty breakfast served by friendly staff.Having previously played Weston Park I was excited to see the improvements and remodelling; and I wasn't disappointed. The condition of the course was excellent for the time of year and previous weather. The holes were interestingly and sympathetically designed; as with the clubhouse. Royal Norwich would fit happily into my top ten which includes Gleneagles, Woodhall Spa and Brocket Hall - very good company and should be on every golfers...
