Last night, 28/07/25, I returned again. I had the prawns aoili with salad. The salad dressing was made with very decent olive oil, not any old rubbish. It was lovely. I then had the roast monkfish tail. That was stunning. If you overcook fish, it can be dry and not great. Catching when it is just cooked and flakes easily is a skill. I loved it, but I can imagine those who like fish less than me sending it back to ve cooked a bit more which would ruin the dish. I returned again last night, 30/01/24. I had the best meal I think I have EVER eaten. The pear, stilton, caramalised onion, and walnut soup was stunning. Then I had hake with green beans and potatoes. The hake had the minutes touch of chilli, which was so good. It just complemented the fish and did not overwhelm it. The chefs were on fire. Just keep doing whatever you are doing. it was amazing. I returned to this local gem last night, 18/04/23. The specials last night were Halibut, Loin of Hare, and Duck breast. Any on them would have been great, but I went for the Halibut with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. The halibut was a decent sized piece and was lovely. My wife had Much Wenlock pork, garlic, and mushroom sausages on mash with red cabbage. I tasted the sausages, and they were superb. Another hit from this gorgeous gastropub. This is a family run pub. Food is of a very high standard. Game is on most menus. For the quality and range of food the price is very reasonable, good value for money,, and less than many other local pubs. I returned 25/11/22, and again, the food at this gastro pub was great. I like eating game. I had a pigeon breast starter, which was lovely and a haunch of venison main in a cherry jus, which was also divine. My dining companions had monk fish "scampi" in an amazing light tempura type batter. That was also good++. This place just keeps delivering and has a very talented chef in the kitchen. 02/08/2021, I returned again today and had a wild boar fillet with grilled apple slices, mash with lovely pickled red cabbage, and pureed peas and pea shoots. It was lovely It is family run. The other point is that it is cheaper than the M&B group type pubs who use ping and ding cooking (microwave). The Vine's food is way better and cheaper than high-end M&B chain pubs food. Pls support...

Accessible space by the main entrance for wobbly wanderers, 1 step to enter the porch but I used my chair as I need it to sit comfortably for any length of time.
Wheelchair access through the fire exit (knock the door) just after the main entrance, there's a sign next to the door.
The al la carte menu has two portions sizes, gluten free, and vegetarian options and the Vine specialises in game and fish. Last night's Specials options were monk fish or venison. Customers with dietary requirements can discuss these with friendly staff.
My chair is narrow enough to fit between pillars that separate the bar from the lounge but wider chairs or scooters might struggle, I left my chair by the end of the bar to access the ladies. Features of the historic building make secure hand grips (like panelling on the walls, narrow door frames, passage and cubicle) I carry a folding walking stick for such occasions but it would have been easy with crutches too.
Seating options include a chesterfield couch by a huge fireplace, sipping a Shiraz I couldn't help but imagine sitting there in winter with a good book, the local book club gathered there shortly afterwards, so I paused audible to listen to their thoughts on Away With the Penguin's (saved to read later, no spoilers)
In the ladies, the washbasins are on a study counter, I was able to lean my weight on that to balance while washing my hands. Sorry guys, no idea how accessible the gents is.
My meal was delicious, tempura chicken in a honey lemon sauce with salad and fries followed by a summer fruit compote, staff were friendly and helpful.
There are children's options on the menu and plenty of equestrian paraphernalia on the walls to occupy curious minds for an hour or so.
Well behaved dogs are welcome and I met a few with their owners, seeking refreshment after a walk on the hills. Biscuits and water are provided and the local canines knew just who to beg❤️
I'd recommend booking ahead at peak times, I dropped in midweek and it...
Read moreWe visited whilst walking in the Clent Hills. We had planned to visit having viewed the menu online but was tempted by the specials board. We shared a starter of Moules Mariniere from the specials menu which was delicious followed by the Venison Burger for my hubby (main menu) and I had the Duck breast, again from the Specials menu. Both our meals were outstanding. The quality of ingredients coupled with the skills of the chef made it the best meal of our holiday (and we'd had a few having been away a few weeks). The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. There was a great selection of drink especially real ales. Butty Bach was on when we visited but they also had Wainwrights. It was very quiet but it was a Tuesday lunchtime. The pub is quaint and traditional nestled in the Clent Hills. It is very dog friendly with water bowls and dog treats for pooches sitting in the bar area. There is also a large car park. We highly recommend The Vine and would like to thank the staff on that day for...
