Cumin Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Broxbourne

Honest review - the restaurant food itself is great. The restaurant has a small kitchen and this can sometimes, on occasion, impact service. This equates to slow turnaround of food, and you are rarely checked upon.... But, as said, this is only very so often.

I have been eating here for 8 years and food has always been very tasty. I usually order for collection and, for the majority of the the time, the food provided is correct. I can only think of one or two incorrect orders, but these are usually minor anomalies, not enough poppadoms etc.

I have, on one occassion, ordered via the Internet route but this led to one of my incorrect orders, so I always choose to order via telephone.

All in all I would say that this is a little gem of a restaurant, and it's only problem is its popularity, which impacts its service...

I arrived for very early dinner, so place was empty. They were patient and cordial as I asked for advice, then provided great recommendations. I might've over ordered, as I had mugtawany soup, mixed kofta for main, a side of rice and a side of saag paneer, but the prices were right so I couldn't justify choosing. The best was the mixed kofta, the small ones were more standard lamb ones, the large ones were stuffed with veggies and combined with the masala sauce just melted in your mouth. Food was overall quite good, the stuffed kofta was awesome. By the time I left the place was beginning to fill up, improving ambiance. Not only did they not judge me for ordering so much for one and almost finishing it all, but they comped me a shot of bailey's as the cherry on top, which in my book guaranteed...

Not great, this used to be one of the best local Indians around... Had a takeaway around Christmas time and I was extremely sick few hours after... couple months ago we decided to give it another go as that's not happened before... we went in for a meal on a Friday night, service seemed slow took a while to order our food and get a drink...(it wasn't full) ... we then watched a large table complaining loudly the whole restraunt could see and they all walked out without eating... our food shortly arrived mine was pretty cold, the rice portion was small definitely not enough for 2 like they said, and my curry had not much flavour or spice to it at all considering I ordered a Madras (usually fairly hot) Something seems to have changed here, perhaps staffing...
