It's a proper old pub, the staff were very welcoming and the chef took pride in the food he was offering. We went on carvery day, I didn't really fancy a carvery but I was not disappointed. The chef gave a very generous portion of meat and the vegetables were all fresh and lovingly cooked. A young boy who was having a carvery with his family went back up for more cabbage! (Cabbage eugh). It was busy for 3.30 pm on a Thursday, I had a look at the menu for future reference and it's quite limited. This pub has character, it's old but well looked after with very stylish toilets! We came on a Friday night to enjoy good old-fashioned entertainment. It was well popular, and it was nice to see so many people enjoying themselves. They offer basic food on a Friday, i.e., chip butty and pizzas, which were lovely and ideal as a quick fix. Great friendly bar staff and clientele. Good place for pub games to be enjoyed. Range of beer is getting better, I particularly enjoyed Brian Clough. The place is being done up slowly but surely and is beginning to stand out from the local competition.
