Restaurant looks lovely inside. The staff are very friendly, but not very attentive, often not one in the dining room at all. My grandson had to go looking for someone to get a drink, he said there were 3 just talking in the bar area. We chose this restaurant based on the menu photos on the website and the reviews; it did not live up to either. Most of the food in the photos arenāt on the menu, and what was, looked nothing like it, it was as if theyāre from somewhere else. Food came..Garlic bread was delicious, as were the pizzas. Pasta mains were just ok, but one came not very hot, as did one of the starters. The steak on a stone didnāt have the delicious salad like in the photo, it was very poor for the cost but tasted nice. The āfreshā vegetables my husband had was anything but fresh, they looked and tasted very old. The tiramisu was probably the worst weāve ever had. It was 2 thin shop bought sponge with a thin spread of buttercream between it and squirty cream on top, nothing like a tiramisu. The next table ordered sticky toffee pudding, the look on their face said it all as they prodded it.. definitely not restaurant quality. A lot of the food/sauces tasted like supermarket bought, not home made. When we got the bill, we were asked if all was ok, I said it was disappointing and mentioned the tiramisu, I was told they were told to make it like that! Tiramisu is so quick and simple to make, itās the one dessert that you expect to be homemade and fresh. Itās as if the owner has lost all the passion he talks about on his website. Even the outside grounds were neglected, tables with old cigarette packets on and full ashtrays, yet no one had been outside, theyād not long opened for the evening. We always like to give restaurants a second chance if we didnāt enjoy it, but this failed on so many counts that I doubt we will. Such a shame, this was my...
Read moreFirstly the positives - the food was very nice and good value for money. Our party of 4 had the 3 course special for £20 and we all enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately this is the only good thing I can say about this place. We booked our table over a week prior to the reservation to be told on arrival that some one had messed up and booked us in for 6.45 rather than 5.45. Very annoying as this resulted in us being placed on a table in the bar area and not the restaurant. This was not the experience we were hoping for. We were squashed up against the bar with the constant noise of the phone ringing, the blender crushing ice cubes and other diners basically stood over us eating so no privacy whatsoever. The service can only remind me of Faulty Towers on a bad day ! The waiter running round like a headless chicken, who delivered a garlic pizza to our table, to then come back for it after one of our party was about to eat a slice, and remove it and take it to another table in the restaurant area even though he saw we had already touched it!! . The smoke alarm went off and was left to the lone waiter to obtain a brush to turn it off after a few minutes of more disturbance. 3 out of the 4 starters arrived. We were sat there waiting for the 4th one to arrive with our food going cold in the meantime. TEN minutes later the 4th starter arrived to be told they had forgotten it !! Then 2 of the mains arrived, a good 5 minutes before the other 2 . Very unprofessional and sloppy service. When asked if everything was ok, I replied saying the food was nice but we were not happy about being sat where we were, and the waitress smiled and walked off whilst I was mid sentence. Overall a disappointing experience, we will spend our money else...
Read moreI visited here a few weeks ago for the first time. It was for a family birthday celebration but I won't be returning. I ordered a fillet steak which cost almost £30. I had ordered it to be cooked rare and when it arrived, it was more medium-rare than rare so I asked for another one. They said this was fine and took the steak back to the kitchen. Moments later, the same steak was placed back in front of me by the chef. He had brought my steak back out to me - in front of staff and diners to tell me there was nothing wrong with my steak and that I should have ordered a blue steak if that was what I wanted. But I didn't want a blue steak, I wanted a rare one. Then he got his phone out and shone the torch on my steak as though to 'prove' that he was right and I was wrong. When I said that I was still not happy with the steak, he told me again that I should have ordered a blue steak and then took it back to the kitchen to prepare me another one. I have never, ever experienced this before and I'm not sure what exactly he thought he was going to achieve by trying to publicly shame me into accepting a steak which which I clearly wasn't happy with. It really is such a pity because everything apart from this was fine - including the new steak which was prepared for me. In fact, it was even presented much nicer too but unfortunately the earlier confrontation by the chef had ruined the whole experience for me and whilst I take no enjoyment in leaving this review, I can honestly say that the chef has only himself to blame for this one star rating I have given...
