My wife and I decided to visit Jaipur Restaurant in Padiham for a sit-down meal, as we usually order online but fancied treating ourselves to the full dining experience. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel comfortable right away.
We started with poppadoms and chutneys, which were fresh and flavorful – a great start to the meal. For starters, we chose the chilli lamb puri and meat samosas, both of which were cooked to perfection. The puri had just the right balance of spice and tenderness, while the samosas were crisp on the outside and packed with delicious, well-seasoned filling.
For mains, we went with chicken biryani, lamb dopiaza, and garlic naan. The biryani was fragrant and full of flavor, and the lamb dopiaza was rich, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. The garlic naan was soft, buttery, and the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Every dish was clearly prepared with care, using fresh ingredients, and the flavors were outstanding.
The service was equally impressive. The staff were courteous, friendly, and extremely attentive throughout our visit. They regularly checked in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, but without being intrusive. It’s clear they take pride in delivering not just great food but also an exceptional dining experience.
Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our visit. The combination of amazing food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere made this a truly memorable evening. Jaipur has always been our go-to for takeaway, but after this visit, we’ll definitely be dining in more often. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-quality Indian cuisine and excellent hospitality. A big thank you to the team at Jaipur for making our...
Read moreI've heard great things about this place, so I thought I'd give it a try. Sadly, I don't think I saw it at its best.
Ordered on Mother's day, I expected it to be busy - but a two hour delay is beyond reasonable.
By the time it got here, the Lamb Madras was tepid, and the Pilau was lukewarm - did the driver get lost? Had to microwave it sadly. I also ordered Keema Naan (pictured), which looked absolutely reprehensible. Flavourless, soggy, and lazily cooked - it's hard to tell what made it a Keema Naan at all.
Post-microwave, I finally got to tasting the curry. The Lamb was cooked perfectly - and tasted delicious and tender. The Madras however, was significantly underwhelming. I get it's supposed to be spicy, but it completely lacked any other flavour. The spice itself didn't even have any flavour - just a hot bath of curry sauce. Did they try to mask the fact it lacks any depth of flavour by just dousing it in spices? Or did they just rush and forget to add anything else? Very disappointing - if the lamb wasn't as good as it was, it probably would've been a 2 star overall.
As for the rice, it's just Pilau rice. Nothing special, nothing different. Pretty hard to mess up. A nice addition was the free poppadoms and mango chutney, not sure if this is standard practice or just as a "sorry for taking so long". Either way they were alright.
Overall, it cost £12.92 excluding delivery (£2), service charge (£0.50), and bag charge (£0.10). Alright price in all I guess, considering it's enough to feed two people.
Overall, will I return? Maybe. From the many great reviews and recommendations, it seems I caught them on a bad day. I'll probably visit instead next time, and eat in. It's a shame this experience was so...
Read moreWe were staying in a hotel not too far away and chose this one courtesy of Google maps. It's a good job we booked in advance as this place is very busy. When we sat down at 6.30pm on a Friday night it was at their last available table. It's only a small place and the tables are quite close together. It was a bit loud for us foggies but with a friendly vibe, however I am not sure I would choose it for a romantic occasion. Considering how busy it was together with a hectic take away trade the service was surprisingly quick. We had an extra poppadom which hasn't happened for a long time, and the chutney tray was excellent. We had our usual sheekh kebab which was very tasty, not overly warm but that's often the case. Our waiter noticed that we had shared our starter, we always do as we struggle to eat our mains at the best of times. He then said 'you are going a la carte' then? I was confused. Chicken balti and chicken garlic chilli chicken with plain rice. I prefer pilau we don't do food colouring, plus chips and a garlic and coriander naan. All was very good but the flavour of both of the curries had a slight hint of what seemed like a pickle or vinegar. I enjoyed mine but the wife was less keen. We didn't get to see a drinks list but Kingfisher suits me and the wife was pleased they had a merlot. The bill came and it was a bit more expensive than expected but it was then I wondered if there was on offer on that we weren't aware of, if so I'm a bit miffed. Perhaps that would also explain it being so busy. Parking was a bit of a pain but...
