Visited yesterday afternoon with my Mum this was to be a Celebration lunch as I have battled Breast Cancer through Lockdown n recently rang the bell..
The woman who served us drinks presented a dirty tea stained teapot n all stained down the spout. The milk was spilled no apology and failed to clean the spillage.
Lunch was served on a dirty chipped old plate it was a burnt offering of a cheese tomato and onion omelette and salad. It was burnt flat pancake style and hardly any filling. It was tasteless just like the surroundings of the cafe.
Welsh rarebit was another burnt offering two inches thick and presented on another severely chipped plate in fact both plates were chipped on each corner.
When the food was left at the service area the piece of paper that the food was written on was placed on top of the food. I personally thought that was an extremely bizarre way of advising the waitress the food was available to be served.
The food was served and we were asked by the young waitress do you want cutlery. Again I'm not used to eating food without cutlery and as an ex waitress the waitress should have ensured that the cutlery was presented to ourselves before the food was served.
The cutlery was old and tired. The salt pot was cracked and the vinegar lid was missing and in all honesty this needed to be binned. It shouldn't have been available to use.
We went to the till and was asked by a mature woman everything OK. My mum explained there was a catalogue of errors and the food was extremely poor standard.
What we didn't expect is a mouthful of if you don't like it you should have said.
I intervened by stating we had brought our concerns to the young waitress who clearly stated isn't me you should be speaking to it's the Manager and basically I'm not interested. I also stated on no terms speak to my Mum in a detrimental and derogatory manner and I was feeling stressed and explained my situation re the Cancer and we were allowed to portray our opinion and maybe if she couldn't deal with the criticism maybe she was in the wrong job.
She then started to bark pay up. My mum proceeded to state I've still got more issues to advise and then the mature woman said get out you can have it free and then actually you can pay because you're a pair of professional complainers and you're rude and get out.
My Mum said I'll pay but I have a right to express my opinion and then mature woman said get out your both banned and never ever show your faces here again and I don't want your money.
My response was your wastage must be sky high and don't speak to my Mum or myself like that..
There was around six or seven people behind us in the queue awaiting to pay and several diners in the room who witnessed this terrible brutal nasty behaviour from the mature woman.
I'm surprised she's employed with her attitude and behaviour.
In all honesty I wouldn't step foot back in the tired grotty place and if I could put zero stars I would have done and the latte was lukewarm too.
Basically just like Mature woman's...
Read moreI visited this place while having a look around the garden centre with my parents and my one year old daughter. It looked and seemed pleasant and inviting for a little refresher (cake and a brew). From the moment we walked in, as I unlatched the double doors to allow my dad to wheel our pram in and was essentially glared at by staff, it felt 'off'. We were marched, with said-pram, through a labyrinthine path of tables and chairs to the furthest point of the cafe and ordered to put the pram out of the way. No issues, I thought, got to be considerate to staff and other customers, despite us being situated in the graveyard area of the building with not another soul around, and the selected pram parking spot being on front of a fire escape.
The food was quite nice, served quickly enough and without any major problems.
The real issue was with the older blonde lady - a regular feature in other people's reviews, it seems - who was among the most discourteous, ignorant, obnoxious and downright rude people I've ever had the misfortune to encounter in a supposed hospitality role. As we moved to leave, my kindly 70 year old mother, from no more than two feet away, offered a polite and friendly compliment on the quality of the scone she had just eaten. 'Thank you so much' she started, to zero response. We assumed the last has just not heard' 'It was as good as it looked', she continued. Blank. Nothing. No acknowledgement or pleasantry, no forced politeness in the name of professional courtesy. The woman humiliated my mother, ignored her kind thanks and instead began talking to her colleague about what time she was going to clock off. Like my mother was not even there, let alone offering a compliment and positive feedback. It was shocking and egregious and left us all blown away at how this person can work in hospitality, and apparently have held a job for some time, judging by the dates of the other reviews.
I don't know who she is, how she justifies this behaviour or how she's not been removed from the place but we won't be going back after she left a sour and ugly taste to an otherwise lovely afternoon trip...
Read moreI went into Irwells with my friend, her baby and two dogs today. We walked in and walked straight back out due to the vile attitude of the old blonde lady.
When we went in, no instruction was given to us, and we walked past two staff who didn’t acknowledge us, or tell us what was required from us. They then proceeded to tell us that we needed to go back to a table near the entrance. The cafe is small and cramped and considering we had a large pram, no attempt was made to give us any help.
The dog (yes very wrongly) jumped up at a lady to greet her and the old blonde lady proceeded to humiliate us in front of the whole cafe telling us to, “get control over the dogs”. My friends works directly with dogs for a living, she has complete control over the dogs. But when we’re left on our own to reverse with NO help from staff, yes we can’t keep an eye on them at the same time. We told the dog instantly, we do not condone the behaviour. But we also would’ve appreciated a little more understanding.
When we sat down, another member of staff proceeds to embarrass us further by telling me the pram can’t be there. But the previous rude lady told us to??
By that point we didn’t even want to be there and left. As we were doing so, she then sl*gs up off to another customer!!!
Absolutely shocking customer service and attitude to two young women.
Would absolutely not return to this cafe with diabolical service and zero compassion for...
