Saint Georges Bakery — Restaurant in Bury

The food is lovely here but when the opening time states 2.30pm and you go in at just after 2.05pm and there is nothing there it is a little strange. Was going to get either pasties or sandwiches for two people then when I saw the place was empty but there were cakes still in the chiller I told the person I was with its ok we can get a cake and coffee to be told the coffee machine is off by an assistant.

It strikes me as a little odd. If staff finish their shift at 2.30pm then surely the shop should close at 2pm if you're that keen on getting out of the door. Left me disappointed and will probably not bother next time no matter what time of day it is. I had an issue here with discrimination during the lock downs and had only just started to go here again because of it. Oh well, there's other places around here. Like other reviewers, the food is great but the customer service...

I've been visiting Saint George's Bakery for probably the best part 25 years now and rely recommend the place!!

I would class It as one of the few true traditional butty shops around now.!!

Offering a vast selection of traditional sandwiches and mouth-watering cakes and some amazing pies 🥧.. your rely spoilt for choice what have on your lunch break!!. 😋..

All the food is freshly prepared and handmade, cooked onsite in the back!! Form the bread rolls to the shoe pastry & cream to the homemade soups, freshly cooked joints, and the artisan pies. You would be hard pressed to find anything that's been bought in.!!!

Plus, don't forget the dialy specials board.!! The hot beef, an onion gravy sandwich, is amazing and deffenlty something ya have...

The food is amazing. So this poor score has nothing to do with the food, this place gets 2 stars only because the women are allways slagging each other off behind each others backs which the customers don’t need to see, and they pick the pies up with no gloves on. Scratching there ass all day then picking your pie up, The owner Had posters up about Covid , forcing his customers to wear a mask, meanwhile his staff are scratching their nose touching their face touching your pies with no gloves on, it’s just not on , my son even seen one of the lady’s eating the bits that fall of the sandwiches, shame because the food is really nice, but the women malling your food with no gloves on is so off putting….they touch coins all day while...
