Nice welcome, and sat up back out the way from the busy bar due to the football. Unfortunately the food was a real let down. Served food without any cutlery and no offer for condiment’s, I had to go grab them from another room off of another table and ask the Barman for the cutlery Black pudding was over cooked and dried out. Had to scrape it out of the skin, of which i was unable to cut apart due to it being waaay to tough and only given a butter/breakfast knife to eat with… The 14oz sausage was black burnt and crispy on both sides, and all I could taste was burned casing and just ruined it completely, also Due to blunt knife could not cut away the meat without making a real mess and gave up. Absolute waste of food and definitely won’t be heading back. No one checked on us or asked how the mains were. On leaving the bar staff were not there to say anything to so we just left. Burnt both sides and they still served it. Also very rough cobble stones leading to the pub, so beware if you’ve stiff suspension. You’re in for a vibe fest ha! Also carpark is pitch black at night so you’ll need your torch. Beautiful location, just real slack standards or food and the beef Lasagna was a 5/7. Ok but...
Read moreHad originally called to book a table for evening meal but was told fully booked - no problem as we were a bit late in calling. I sent an e-mail enquiring about the following day giving a range of times and did not even get an answer, even though when I went in for a pint it was not very busy. The general impression given was that due to the proximity of the Country Park they were not really that fussed about additional customers. Locals seemed to be given priority when ordering drinks and a few in the queue commented on this. The beer was fine although they did run out of Poretti and later Moretti. The Moretti was replaced by a paper note stuck over the pump, claiming to be Estrella but it tasted remarkably like Carlsberg to me. A better option would probably be the Garsdale Inn a few hundred yards...
Read moreStaying in Burrs caravan park and went to pub for a family meal, been 3 years since our last visit and OMG we were not disappointed. Wife got the battered fish that like a baby shark. I got the 16oz gammon that just fell apart in you mouth, kids meal great to. For pudding we rocommend the brownie or my favorite, strawberry and chocolate icecream which was real stuff and not the supermarket crap. So meal for 5 with pudding 2 alcohol drinks each for adults and 2 drinks each for the kids and all under 100 quid. Cheapest and best we have had for a long time. So no need to be staying at the caravan park, if your driving close then divert here for your grub, guaranteed you will not be...
