Such a beautiful place, plenty to look at and different types of routes/fileds and the opportunity to watch steam trains. However if your dog does not have the best recall KEEP IT ON IT'S LEAD...Just because your dog isn't nervous and you feel confident it's friendly, does not mean other dogs are. All dogs should be treated as scared/nervous unless their owner says otherwise. Especially in busy areas.
Myself & my mum took our two dogs here over the weekend. Whilst some respectful owners kept their dogs on the lead even though they knew their dogs are well behaved off their leads and then there were others that weren't bothered about their dog/dogs approaching others especially when on leads.
We have a shih tzu who is very well behaved, listens and loves other dogs and people and we also have a rescue dog who's 7 and he is a nervous wreck around people and dogs that coming running towards him- even though we constantly shouted at owners to get their dog because one of ours was nervous they just didn't listen nor bothered to call/control their dog, to the point I had to hold the roaming dogs harness. Now for the good bit great place to visit, you can walk to the river, the viaduct, lovely scenery, never overcrowded, good pub and a lovely cafe, all reasonably priced. Dogs welcome😊. The only thing i didn't like was the cheese and pickle sandwich as the cheese was mixed with mayo, I know for goodness sake stop complaining!. Trains run by the East Lancs railway, so if you want the steam train experience nows your chance. Direct from the station in Bury. Great day out...

Liar. Also, the Lamppost café was closing up half an hour before advertised closure, despite quite a few people about. Definitely won't visit this "country park" again. Drab...
