Five Food — Restaurant in Calderdale

I certainly won't ever spend money this place because of the shocking rudeness of a staff member, this morning. I was in the vicinity with my little dog and found myself needing to spend a penny so thought I'd call in and ask if I could use the loo and it would give me the chance to check the place out, too, as I moved back to the area only recently. I went inside and said, "Hi! I'm really sorry, I know my dog's not allowed in here, I'm just wondering if I could please use your toilet." "No, sorry, it's only for customers!" barked an older woman who was frying something. "Sure, how much could I pay you to use the toilet?" Well, I can't remember her exact words but her manner was so rude I was shocked! I mean, there's a way of saying things! I asked if there was somewhere else I could find a toilet and again, just utter rudeness. It beggars belief - I don't know where this woman is from but she's certainly not a Halifax local because we don't treat people like that. Good grief. I'm a 50-year old woman, nicely-dressed, polite, friendly, and well-spoken, not some badly-behaved teen or scratty drug-dealer that was cramping the cafe's style. As a sidenote, a few weeks ago, I had wanted to meet a friend here for a catch-up lunch - you know, support a local business - so I checked Google Maps and their website to check they were open and it said they were. So we met here and it was closed, no sign saying why and no statement about when they'd be open again or anything, which was very inconvenient, so we drove up for a lovely lunch at the Moorlands where the staff are warm and welcoming. I don't like being spoken to like dirt and I certainly won't be stepping a foot in this...

UPDATED REVIEW 8.11.22 - I have only just realised you can edit existing Google reviews or I would have done this sooner! I now visit once a week (at least). The food is always spot on and Jeannine knows all her regular customers which is really lovely. I like the open kitchen so you can see for yourself the high cleanliness standards and that fresh quality ingredients are used. Last week I had garlic chilli chicken, it was perfect. ORIGINAL REVIEW 2021: I visited today for the first time and had a lovely warm welcome, the menu is azing, fuĺl of homemade and freshly prepared ingredients.

I thoroughly enjoyed my goats cheese, rocket and chutney grilled sandwich with side salad.

Visited this morning using uber delivery, ordered few things as wanted to try it out. Everything came hot however think its over priced for what you get. Best thing was the cajun grilled cheese sandwich (tasted more like sweet chilli chicken) was more like just a tostie however charging £5.50 definitely wasn't worth it no side salad or anything. Bacon wasn't very nice was oven cooked over lapped some was over cooked hard some was pale like only just cooked fat all stringy 🤢. Reading some of the reviews & comments back not very professional saying someone isn't welcome back anyway. From someone whom use to run a cafe I'd never ever respond to a customer like that.
